  • Cubs' Gavin Hollowell: Heads back to minors

The Cubs optioned Hollowell to Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

He was technically up as the 27th man for what was supposed to be a doubleheader Monday versus the Brewers, though the second game got rained out. Hollowell was roughed up for four runs over two innings in the first game Monday and is now headed back to Iowa.

  • Tom Cosgrove RP | HOU

Cubs' Tom Cosgrove: Joins big club for doubleheader

The Cubs recalled Cosgrove from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Cosgrove will join the Cubs ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Brewers, though it's unclear if he or another player will be sent back to Iowa once the twin bill concludes and Chicago needs to reduce its active roster to 26 men. The 29-year-old southpaw reliever has made just two appearances in the majors this season but has seen ample usage for Iowa, logging a 4.66 ERA and 1.65 WHIP while striking out 47 batters across 38.2 innings over 33 outings.

  • Luke Little RP | CHC

Cubs' Luke Little: Optioned to Iowa

The Cubs optioned Little to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Little's stint in the majors lasted only one day, and he allowed one unearned run while fanning four over two innings of relief in Monday's 7-0 loss to the Brewers. The big left-hander is being replaced on the active roster by Tom Cosgrove, who was recalled from Triple-A.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Cleared for rehab assignment

Hoskins (thumb) will report to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment.

Hoskins progressed to on-field hitting and defensive work last week, and after he experienced no setbacks in his recovery from a Grade 2 left thumb sprain while increasing his activity, the Brewers gave him the green light to play minor-league games. Given that he's been on the shelf since July 7, Hoskins will likely stay on assignment with Nashville at least through the weekend to stockpile at-bats and regain his timing at the plate. Prior to getting hurt, Hoskins had been serving as the Brewers' everyday first baseman, but he may have to settle for more of a part-time role upon his return while Andrew Vaughn (.920 OPS since the All-Star break) has thrived as his primary replacement in the Milwaukee lineup.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Being evaluated by team doctors

Arenado (shoulder) was scheduled to meet the Cardinals in Miami and will be evaluated by team doctors Tuesday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Arenado has been rehabbing his right shoulder strain at the team's spring training complex in Jupiter, FL, and made the short trip to Miami to join the club. It does not seem as though Arenado's activation from the 10-day injured list is imminent, but the Cardinals expect to have a clearer picture of his timetable after he meets with team doctors. Arenado has been sidelined for the entirety of August.

  • Connor Seabold RP | TOR

Braves' Connor Seabold: Recalled by Atlanta

Atlanta recalled Seabold from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Seabold was claimed off waivers earlier this month and is now headed to the majors. The right-hander has permitted one run with a 5:3 K:BB over 6.2 frames at the big-league level this season. Seabold has made 10 starts in 2025 at the Triple-A level, so he has the ability to eat up some innings out of the bullpen.

  • Dane Dunning SP | SEA

Braves' Dane Dunning: Back up with big club

Atlanta recalled Dunning from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Dunning has been torched for nine runs over 5.2 innings during his time with Atlanta. He will give the bullpen some length.

  • Braves' Hunter Stratton: Dispatched to Gwinnett

Atlanta optioned Stratton to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Stratton has tossed six scoreless innings during his time with Atlanta -- which includes a three-inning save in his last appearance -- but will nonetheless head back to the minors to make room for another reliever.

  • Braves' Daysbel Hernandez: Sent back to minors

Atlanta optioned Hernandez to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Hernandez has managed a 2.72 ERA in 36.1 innings this season, but a 33:30 K:BB doesn't paint a pretty picture. He'll report to Gwinnett as Atlanta adds a fresh bullpen arm in his place.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Reds' Wade Miley: Uncertain after doctor visit

Miley (forearm) visited Dr. Timothy Kremchek on Monday and is still trying to determine his next move, MLB.com reports.

Miley was pulled from a rehab assignment after experiencing soreness during a start last Friday. That the left-hander is pondering his next move suggests the doctor offered multiple go-forward scenarios and that the soreness may not be normal. Reds manager Terry Francona said the team will "support whatever he does." This implies that Miley will not be a fantasy factor over the final weeks of the regular season.
