Landen Roupp SP | SF
Giants' Landen Roupp: Not expected back this season
Roupp (knee) isn't expected to return from the 15-day injured list this season, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Roupp is working his way back from a deep bone bruise in his left knee, and the Giants aren't keen on rushing him along in the recovery process. The right-hander should have a relatively normal offseason and come to spring training with a leg up on a rotation spot for 2026. Roupp collected a 3.80 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 102:45 K:BB over 106.2 innings covering 22 starts in 2025.

Carson Whisenhunt P | SF
Giants' Carson Whisenhunt: IL stint expected to be brief
Whisenhunt isn't expected to miss extended time due to the back strain that landed him on the 15-day injured list Sunday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Whisenhunt is eligible for activation Sept. 12, and he could have a good shot at returning on that date or close to it. The rookie left-hander holds a 5.01 ERA and uninspiring 16:12 K:BB over 23.1 frames covering five starts with the Giants this season.

Harrison Bader CF | SF
Phillies' Harrison Bader: Making push for everyday role
Bader will start in center field and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Brewers.
After being acquired from the Twins on July 31, Bader started in just three of the Phillies' first seven games of August, but he appears to have since moved into a quasi-everyday role. He included this past month by starting in 17 of the final 22 contests, slashing .328/.408/.475 with one home run, three RBI and nine runs. Given that he's swinging a hot bat and is an excellent defender, Bader could end up being prioritized ahead of Nick Castellanos -- who is out of the lineup Monday -- Max Kepler and Brandon Marsh in the final month of the season.

Jerar Encarnacion RF | SF
Giants' Jerar Encarnacion: Nearing rehab assignment
Encarnacion (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento by the end of this week, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Encarnacion has been working out with Sacramento lately and should be cleared to play in games with them soon as long as he continues to progress. He's been sidelined since early August with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain but could be back on the Giants' active roster by mid-September.

Michael Kopech SP | LAD
Dodgers' Michael Kopech: Back from 60-day IL
The Dodgers activated Kopech (knee) from the 60-day injured list Monday.
Kopech had surgery July 1 to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, but he's ready to join the big-league bullpen after making seven rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The righty held an 11.81 ERA and 5:9 K:BB over 5.1 innings in those outings, so the Dodgers are likely to ease Kopech into high-leverage spots.

Hye Seong Kim SS | LAD
Dodgers' Hyeseong Kim: Back from IL
The Dodgers activated Kim (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Back to full health after he had been on the shelf since July 28 due to shoulder bursitis, Kim will join the Dodgers following a nine-appearance rehab assignment in which he slashed .324/.368./412 with a 3:10 BB:K and a stolen base. During his time in the majors this season, Kim has seen playing time at second base, shortstop and center field, but he saw three starts in left field during his rehab assignment and could emerge as an option at the position with the Dodgers in September. Michael Conforto has served as Los Angeles' primary left fielder this season, but he's mustered a lowly .628 OPS through 414 plate appearances.

Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Transferred to 60-day IL
Atlanta transferred Riley (abdomen) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Ha-Seong Kim (back), who was claimed off waivers from the Rays on Monday. Riley underwent season-ending core surgery nearly two weeks ago and is expected to be ready for spring training.

Trevor Megill RP | MIL
Brewers' Trevor Megill: Bullpen session slated for Thursday
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Megill (elbow) has been playing catch and has a bullpen session scheduled for Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Megill landed on the 15-day injured list last Wednesday with a Grade 1 right flexor strain, but he's aiming for a minimum-length stay on the IL and appears to be tracking toward achieving that goal. The reliever will be eligible for activation Sept. 9. Abner Uribe has been filling in as the Brewers' closer since Megill was placed on the shelf.

Derek Hill RF | CHW
Marlins' Derek Hill: Suffers hamstring injury Monday
Hill was removed from Monday's game against the Nationals in the third inning due to right hamstring discomfort, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.
Hill sustained the injury while running to first base on his lone plate appearance of the day, when he reached on a throwing error. The Marlins summoned Victor Mesa from the bench to pinch run for Hill, who could be subject to further testing on the hamstring injury before Miami determines whether he'll require a stint on the injured list.

Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL
Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Claimed by Atlanta
Atlanta claimed Kim (back) off waivers from Tampa Bay on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Atlanta will be on the hook for the roughly $2 million remaining on Kim's contract this season, and the 29-year-old holds a $16 million player option for 2026. Kim had been on the shelf since Aug. 21 due to lower back inflammation, but he's ready for activation, according to Rosenthal. The 29-year-old infielder got off to a delayed start of the 2025 season after undergoing labrum surgery last fall, and he's slashed just .214/.290/.321 over 24 games at the big-league level while also missing time with calf, foot and back injuries. Once he's reinstated, Kim could wind up getting a look in an everyday role at shortstop for Atlanta down the stretch.
