  • Thomas White SP | MIA

Marlins' Thomas White: Bumped up to Triple-A

The Marlins promoted White from Double-A Pensacola to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

White earned the promotion following a dominant stint at Pensacola, where he held a 1.59 ERA and 75:24 K:BB over 45.1 innings covering 10 starts. Between Pensacola and High-A Beloit this season, the southpaw has collected a 2.13 ERA and 128:41 K:BB across 80.1 frames. White won't turn 21 years old until later this month and probably won't be under consideration for a major-league promotion until 2026, but he's established himself as one of the better pitching prospects in baseball.

  • Griffin Conine RF | MIA

Marlins' Griffin Conine: Ready for rehab assignment

Conine (shoulder) is expected to join one of the Marlins' affiliates later this week to begin a rehab assignment, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

After undergoing surgery April 29 to address a dislocated left shoulder, Conine was presumed to be shut down for the season, but he's apparently progressed more rapidly than expected and is on the cusp of being cleared for game action. Given how much time he's missed, Conine is expected to need at least a week's worth of at-bats in the minors to find his swing and get comfortable playing the outfield again before the Marlins bring him back from the injured list. Before getting shut down with the shoulder injury, Conine had gotten off to a solid start to the season for Miami, slashing .281/.352/.438 with one home run and seven RBI over 20 games.

  • Janson Junk SP | MIA

Marlins' Janson Junk: Cleared for rehab start

Junk (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Junk landed on the 15-day injured list last week due to right ulnar nerve irritation, but it's a good sign that he's already been cleared to pitch in a game. The right-hander is eligible for activation Sept. 8 and has a good shot to return on that date or soon after if all goes well in Tuesday's outing.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Sitting out third straight

Ozuna is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Cubs.

Ozuna will take a seat for the third straight game and for the fourth time over the past six contests. Jurickson Profar will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter, and Jake Fraley will play left field while Ozuna is on the bench. Atlanta could continue to rotate multiple players in at DH down the stretch, resulting in unsteady playing time for Ozuna.

  • Derek Hill RF | CHW

Marlins' Derek Hill: Leaves start with apparent injury

Hill was lifted for a pinch runner in the third inning of Monday's game against the Nationals due to an apparent lower-body injury, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Hill went 0-for-1 but reached base on a throwing error during his lone plate appearance of the day. He appeared to have tweaked something while sprinting to first base, as the Marlins quickly summoned Victor Mesa from the bench to pinch run for him. Miami should have more details on Hill's injury later Monday.

  • Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Taking seat Monday

Castellanos is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Milwaukee.

Castellanos has gone hitless over his last five contests and continues to see a dip in playing time since the Phillies acquired Harrison Bader at the trade deadline, as Monday marks the sixth time that he's been out of the lineup since Aug. 1. Philadelphia will go with Brandon Marsh, Bader and Max Kepler in the outfield for the series opener.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Getting breather Monday

Bohm is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Milwaukee.

Bohm put together an 11-game hitting streak upon his return from the injured list Aug. 17, but he'll get a breather Monday after going hitless in his last three contests. Edmundo Sosa will start third base and bat eighth for the Phillies.

  • Luis Matos RF | MIL

Giants' Luis Matos: Receiving Monday off

Matos is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Matos will get a well-deserved breather for the series opener in Colorado, after he had started in all 10 of the Giants' games since his Aug. 21 call-up from Triple-A Sacramento. Drew Gilbert will get the nod in right field Monday, but Matos appears to be locked into a near-everyday role after slashing .432/.450/.811 with three home runs and two steals following his promotion.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Quick ejection Monday

Edwards was ejected from Monday's game versus the Nationals in the first inning for arguing balls and strikes, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Edwards' plate appearance to lead off the contest ended on a groundout to the catcher, and he evidently said some choice words to home plate umpire Brennan Miller to warrant a quick ejection from the game. Javier Sanoja took Edwards' spot at second base in the bottom of the first inning.

  • Alec Burleson 1B | STL

Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Plays catch Monday

Burleson (wrist) was spotted playing catch on the field prior to Monday's game against the Athletics, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

St. Louis placed Burleson on the 10-day injured list Friday due to right wrist inflammation, but after getting an injection to relieve discomfort, he's already started throwing again. Burleson remains hopeful to be activated from the IL around when he's first eligible to return Sept. 8.
