Rays' Jose Siri: On pine Friday

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

    Rays' Brandon Lowe: Sitting Friday

Lowe is not in Friday's lineup against the Orioles.

  • Zach Dezenzo LF | HOU

Astros' Zach Dezenzo: Dispatched to Triple-A

Dezenzo was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday.

Dezenzo had a max exit velocity of 109.1 mph and hit one homer in 55 plate appearances with the big club, but he was largely overmatched. The hulking 6-foot-4 corner infielder hit .212 with a 32.7 percent strikeout rate and a 5.5 percent walk rate while playing sparingly after an Aug. 6 promotion.

  • Kyle Tucker RF | LAD

Astros' Kyle Tucker: Back as DH on Friday

Tucker (shin) was activated from the 60-day injured list Friday and is batting fourth as the designated hitter against the Diamondbacks.

Make sure to get Tucker into daily and weekend lineups. The 27-year-old missed just over three months after suffering a fractured shin June 3 that was originally reported to be a contusion.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Nearing baseball activities

Urias (ankle) is progressing and said Friday that he's confident he'll play again before the end of the season, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

He hasn't resumed baseball activities yet, but that could happen soon, per Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. Urias sprained his right ankle Aug. 31. The Orioles have been using a mix of Coby Mayo, Emmanuel Rivera and Nick Maton at the hot corner in Urias' absence.

  • Miguel Vargas 3B | CHW

White Sox's Miguel Vargas: Still out Friday

Vargas (eye) is not in Friday's lineup against the Red Sox.

Vargas has not played since exiting Tuesday's game with a right eye abrasion suffered during a collision in the field. Lenyn Sosa will start at third base while batting seventh.

  • Luis Robert CF | BAL

White Sox's Luis Robert: Starting in center field

Robert (hamstring) is starting in center field and batting second Friday against the Red Sox.

Robert exited Wednesday's game due to right hamstring tightness and the White Sox were off Thursday. He is hitting .220 with 12 home runs and 20 steals in 75 games since coming off the injured list in June.

  • Guardians' Welbyn Francisca: Wrapping up dominant season

Francisca is slashing .325/.412/.477 with seven home runs, 18 steals on 21 attempts and a 15.4 percent strikeout rate in 71 games across the Arizona Complex League and Carolina League.

The 18-year-old switch hitter has made 23 starts at shortstop and three at second base since his promotion to Single-A Lynchburg on July 29. Francisca doesn't have the loudest tools, but he's pretty good at everything and has performed well while being young for his levels.

  • Luis Guerrero RP | BOS

Red Sox's Luis Guerrero: Set for big-league debut

Guerrero's contract was selected from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports.

Guerrero is a 24-year-old righty reliever who will be making his big-league debut when he gets into a game. A 17th-round selection in 2021, Guerrero logged a 3.31 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 79:32 K:BB in 54.1 innings across 42 appearances at Triple-A. He has a plus fastball and solid secondaries, but his poor control may limit him to low-leverage work initially.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Red Sox's Rich Hill: Designated for assignment

Hill was designated for assignment Friday, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports.

Hill had a 4.91 ERA, five strikeouts and three walks in 3.2 innings over four appearances for Boston. It's possible this is the last we see of the 44-year-old lefty in the majors.
