  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Activated from IL

The Blue Jays reinstated Varsho (wrist) from the injured list Saturday. Manager John Schneider said Thursday that Varsho would "have to do a lot" in order to return from the IL by Saturday, but the 29-year-old appears to have passed all of the Jays' tests and will now rejoin the team without heading out on a rehab assignment. He'll reclaim his role as Toronto's primary center fielder, and Charles McAdoo will head back to Triple-A Buffalo to clear space on the 26-man roster.

  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Return on Saturday not ruled out

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Thursday that Varsho (wrist) could be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Saturday, but he will "have to do a lot today and tomorrow" in order to make that happen, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Varsho resumed hitting this week as he works his way back from left wrist inflammation. If the outfielder is not quite ready to return to the active roster this weekend, he might need a rehab game or two in order to knock the rust off. Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw have been handling center field for Toronto since Varsho went down.

  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Resuming hitting activities

Varsho (wrist) is beginning to feel better and resumed hitting in the batting cages Wednesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports Just four days after landing on the injured list with left wrist inflammation, Varsho has resumed hitting and is starting to feel better as he gets closer to his potential return. Toronto announced that the 30-year-old will continue to ramp up his activities over the next couple of days as the team evaluates his next steps.

  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Lands on IL with wrist inflammation

The Blue Jays placed Varsho on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to June 10, with left wrist inflammation. It's been a week since Varsho started a game, though he has appeared off the bench a few times during that stretch. Ultimately, the outfielder was unable to avoid a trip to the IL, and he will be eligible to return June 20. Myles Straw and Nathan Lukes should handle center field for Toronto while Varsho is out.

  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Out for fifth straight game

Varsho (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Phillies. Varsho will be held out of the lineup for a fifth straight game, though his absence may have more to do with the matchup versus a lefty starter (Jesus Luzardo) than any major concern about his left wrist injury. After an MRI on his wrist returned negative Tuesday, Varsho was deployed off the bench as a pinch runner later that night and stole a base and scored a run in the Blue Jays' 3-2 win. He should be available off the bench once again Wednesday and could be ready to rejoin the lineup Friday, when the Blue Jays open a three-game series versus the Yankees.

  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Held out again Tuesday

Varsho (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Phillies. It's his fourth straight absence from the starting nine as Varsho continues to deal with left wrist inflammation. The Blue Jays have been optimistic that Varsho will be able to avoid a stint on the injured list, but he'll need to be game-ready soon or the club will have no choice but to make a transaction. Nathan Lukes is in center field for Toronto on Tuesday.

  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Sitting in third straight game

Varsho (wrist) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies. Varsho will miss out on a third straight start while he tends to left wrist inflammation, but at this stage, the Blue Jays aren't expecting him to require a stint on the injured list. The Blue Jays felt comfortable enough with making Varsho available off the bench for Sunday's 6-4 win over the Orioles, with the 29-year-old checking into that contest in the ninth inning as a defensive replacement in center field. Manager John Schneider told Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca that Varsho took another positive step forward in his recovery earlier Monday, hitting off a pitching machine prior to the game "with some pretty good intensity."

  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Deemed day-to-day

Varsho is day-to-day after exiting Friday's game against Arizona with left knee discomfort, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. Manager John Schneider said that Varsho reported discomfort in his lower quad before the game, so Schneider took him out of Friday's contest as a precaution. The 29-year-old outfielder hasn't gone in for imaging, which suggests that the team doesn't believe he's dealing with anything serious. If he sits out another game as a precaution, Myles Straw is likely to benefit from an extra start in center field.
