Jackson struck out one in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning to record his eighth save of the season in Friday's 2-0 win over the Giants.

Robert Garcia remained on the mound to begin the ninth inning and struck out Jung Hoo Lee before handing the ball over to Jackson, who took care of right-handed batters Matt Chapman and Wilmer Flores. It was a nice bounce-back effort for Jackson after he blew his first save of the season Thursday, but it likely leaves him unavailable for Saturday if Texas has another late lead to protect. Through 10.2 innings on the year, Jackson sports a 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB.

Eovaldi (2-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing three hits and a walk over six scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Giants. He struck out seven.

The right-hander got just enough offense to get into the win column for the first time since April 1, and Eovaldi needed 99 pitches (61 strikes) to record his fourth quality start in six trips to the mound. Eovaldi has yet to give up more than three runs in a start this season, and he'll take a 2.21 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and dazzling 38:3 K:BB through 36.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the A's.

The Guardians plan to recall Nikhazy from Triple-A Columbus to have him start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Red Sox, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

After optioning reliever Zak Kent to Triple-A, Cleveland initially planed to call up Nikhazy on Friday to fill the open spot in its bullpen. However, after Friday's series opener was postponed, Nikhazy's call-up will instead be pushed back a day, and he'll now be in line to start in his MLB debut due to the doubleheader creating a stretch of six games in five days for the Guardians. The 25-year-old lefty had excelled through his first four starts with Columbus this season, logging a 3.44 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB in 18.1 innings. Cleveland doesn't appear to have a permanent opening in the rotation for Nikhazy, so he could shift to the bullpen or head back to Triple-A following his start Saturday.

Wilson went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 6-5 win over the White Sox.

The rookie shortstop got hold of a Sean Burke slider on the inner part of the plate to lead off the fifth inning with a solo shot. It was Wilson's third homer in 25 games to begin the season, an impressive showing considering he managed only seven home runs in 103 games across all levels in 2024. His ability to make contact is still the driving factor for his fantasy value, however -- Wilson is slashing .347/.354/.500 through 99 plate appearances with one steal, 14 RBI and 15 runs.

Miller recorded his eighth save of the season in Friday's 6-5 win over the White Sox, giving up two runs on two hits in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

The A's built a three-run cushion before Miller entered the game, and he needed every bit of it after Brooks Baldwin turned on a 99 mph fastball and ripped it down the right-field line for a two-run blast. It was the first homer, and the first runs, Miller had allowed in 2025, but he remains a perfect 8-for-8 in converting save chances with a 2.00 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and dominant 18:1 K:BB over nine innings.

Severino came away with a no-decision in Friday's 6-5 win over the White Sox, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out seven.

The 31-year-old right-hander blanked Chicago for four innings before both offenses began to wake up, and Severino had to settle for his third quality start of the season when he left the mound after 85 pitches (58 strikes) with the score tied 3-3. After a bumpy beginning to April, he's posted a 2.29 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over his last three starts and 19.2 innings. Severino will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the Rangers.

Burke (1-4) took the loss Friday as the White Sox were downed 6-5 by the A's, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings of relief. He struck out five.

Entering the game to begin the second inning behind opener Tyler Gilbert, Burke kept the A's off the board for three frames before the wheels began to fall off. The 25-year-old righty tossed 86 pitches (49 strikes) before getting the hook as he lost his fourth straight decision, a stretch in which he's stumbled to a 7.71 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 17:11 K:BB over 21 innings. Burke will try to get back in the win column in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next week against the Brewers.

Otanez (shoulder) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Stockton on April 29, MLB.com reports.

He threw a 15-pitch live bullpen session April 23, according to the report. Otanez was diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement in mid-March. He's expected to fill a high-leverage setup role in front of closer Mason Miller when he returns.

Leclerc (right lat strain) will receive a second opinion with a doctor in Texas during the week of April 28, MLB.com reports.

The right-hander left an April 22 appearance with what was originally labeled shoulder soreness but later diagnosed as a lat strain. However, the need for a second opinion would suggest his injury may be to his shoulder or more severe than first thought.

Mitchell (wrist) has started playing in extended spring training games, MLB.com reports.

Mitchell broke his right hamate bone in February and was originally expected to miss just four-to-six weeks. It's not clear when he'll make his minor-league season debut. Mitchell was the eighth overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft and spent most of last year at the Single-A level, slashing .240/.375/.443 with 18 home runs, 50 RBI and 24 stolen bases before finishing the campaign with five games at High-A.
