  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Lifts off Tuesday

Torkelson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Yankees. Riley Greene stole the show with two home runs Tuesday evening at Yankee Stadium, but Torkelson also managed to extend his strong recent stretch of play. Over his last 10 games, the Detroit first baseman is batting .324 with two long balls and eight RBI. On the season, Torkelson now has 14 home runs and 37 RBI across 85 contests.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Exiting lineup Sunday

Torkelson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. Colt Keith will fill in at first base while Torkelson rests for the first time since May 24. That ends a streak of 30 consecutive starts during which he produced a .219 batting average, five home runs, 12 RBI and 15 runs.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Reaches, scores twice in loss

Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Yankees. Torkelson made an impact without going deep as he provided all of Detroit's offense against Ryan Weathers and three New York relievers. The slugging first baseman is still very much a boom-or-bust option who's batting only .203 in 20 games this month and .211 for the season. While it wasn't the case Wednesday, Torkelson often needs to leave the yard to offer fantasy value because he doesn't make consistent contact at the plate.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Goes deep again Friday

Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Guardians. Torkelson has been finding his power stroke lately, as he's now gone deep in consecutive contests and has three home runs over his last seven games. Overall, the slugging first baseman is up to 11 long balls for the season. Torkelson can't be counted on to make consistent contact at the plate, and strikeouts remain an issue, but his ability to go deep should continue to prop up his fantasy value.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Launches 10th home run

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 11-0 win over the Twins. It was a pretty typical Torkelson performance, as he struck out in his other three at-bats. The slugger had no home runs through his first 23 games of the season but has now gone deep 10 times in his last 45 contests. Torkelson figures to continue to struggle with making consistent contact, but he can still provide some fantasy value if he can maintain his power stroke.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Hits ninth home run Friday

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 7-3 win over the Mariners. Torkelson and Kerry Carpenter hit matching two-run home runs to power the Tigers to victory. The slugging first baseman is riding a five-game hitting streak, a span in which he's gone 7-for-16 with two homers and five RBI. Torkelson is now up to nine long balls for the season to go along with a .726 OPS, and he seems to be getting back on track in June after mostly struggling through May.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Records two hits, RBI in loss

Torkelson went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the White Sox. While Detroit is struggling with a 2-8 record in its last 10 games, Torkelson has been heating up. During that same stretch, he's batting .314 with five extra-base hits. Overall, Torkelson is now batting .214 with a .720 OPS, and he seems to be trending upward toward the career-best .240 batting average and .789 OPS he posted during the 2025 regular season. His power is down, however, with only eight home runs in 59 games this year after going deep 31 times in 155 games last regular season, which tied his career high.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Three extra-base hits in win

Torkelson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Angels. The slugging first baseman collected a trio of hits for the second time this season in what was just his seventh multi-hit game of the campaign. Torkelson has hit safely in six of his last eight outings, improving his season slash line to .210/.318/.409 to go along with eight homers, 12 doubles, 21 RBI and 18 runs scored across 211 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Resting for front end of twin bill

Torkelson is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Orioles. Torkelson will take a seat for the first game of the twin bill, but he'll most likely return to the starting nine for the nightcap. Colt Keith will get the nod at first base in the early game.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Getting rare day off

Torkelson is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Guardians. Torkelson homered in Tuesday's loss to Cleveland, but he's struggled in May with a .136/.235/.288 batting line and 42.6 percent strikeout rate. Colt Keith will cover first base for the Tigers while Torkelson regroups.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Extends HR streak to five games

Torkelson went 3-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run during Detroit's 8-3 win over Cincinnati on Sunday. Torkelson extended the Tigers' lead to 5-3 in the seventh inning by blasting a solo home run off Pierce Johnson. Torkelson has gone deep in each of his last five games, a complete turnaround from how he started the 2026 season, as he failed to go deep in each of his first 22 contests of the campaign. Tuesday's series opener against Atlanta will be his opportunity to extend the homer streak to six games.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Reaches three times Saturday

Torkelson went 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Marlins. Torkelson is still searching for his first home run of 2026, but he has at least been performing a bit better at the plate recently. Over his last five games, the first baseman is batting .333 with an .863 OPS, and he's walked four times versus only three strikeouts. The power should come for Torkelson as long as he's seeing the ball well, and the Tigers figure to remain patient with their slugger, who delivered 31 long balls during the 2025 regular season.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Heading to bench Wednesday

Torkelson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins. Torkelson will hit the bench for just the second time in the Tigers' first 12 games of 2026. Colt Keith will cover first base in place of Torkelson, who is batting .206 with no home runs, four runs and three RBI over 42 plate appearances on the season.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Back in action Thursday

Torkelson (forearm) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Thursday's Grapefruit League contest versus the Yankees. Torkelson had to be removed from a simulated game Tuesday after being hit on the right forearm by a pitch. He managed to avoid fractures, though, and is back in action after a day to rest. Torkelson is 4-for-19 with two doubles and a 1:6 BB:K so far this spring for the Tigers.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Tending to bruised forearm

Torkelson was diagnosed with a bruised right forearm after being hit by a pitch in a simulated game Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. Torkelson didn't play in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Twins in Grapefruit League play, but the first baseman should check back into the Tigers' spring lineup within a few days once the soreness in his arm subsides.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Avoids arbitration with Tigers

Torkelson signed a one-year, $4.075 million contract with the Tigers on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Torkelson will bring in a $3.2893 million raise during his first year of arbitration eligibility after enjoying his best year at the plate in 2025, during which he slashed .240/.333/.456 with 31 homers, 78 RBI and 82 runs scored across 649 regular-season plate appearances. He's a safe bet to continue operating as Detroit's everyday first baseman in 2026 while batting near the middle of the order.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Launches homer No. 30

Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-1 loss to Atlanta. He spoiled a potential shutout bid for Bryce Elder by taking the right-hander deep in the fourth inning. The long ball was Torkelson's 30th of the season, the second time he's reached that milestone in his career, and he's been on a tear in September as Detroit tries to hang onto its lead in the AL Central. Over his last nine games, the first baseman is batting .371 (13-for-35) with two homers, three RBI and six runs.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Homers in four-hit game

Torkelson went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-5, 10-inning loss to the Guardians. Torkelson was dialed in all night as he delivered his first four-hit performance of the season. He saved his best for last, belting his 29th home run of the year in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Tigers tried to cut into a 7-3 deficit. Torkelson is now two away from tying his career high of 31 homers, which he recorded back in 2023. Tuesday's long ball snapped an 18-game stretch without a home run for the 26-year-old slugger.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Reaches three times, scores in win

Torkelson went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Marlins. The Tigers could only muster four hits as a team, but Torkelson's patience at the plate helped lead to the first run of the game, which was ultimately enough for the win. The Detroit first baseman is known for his power, as he has 28 home runs on the season, though he's also shown an improved batting eye this year. Torkelson's walk rate is currently 11.6 percent, which is up from 8.8 percent during the 2024 regular season and would be a new career best.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Homers in win

Torkelson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Royals. Torkelson put the Tigers ahead 2-1 with a 408-foot homer in the fourth inning and later added a single in the sixth. The 25-year-old has hit safely in seven of his past 10 games, though he's managed just three extra-base hits, three RBI and five runs scored in that span. For the season, he's slashing .244/.337/.479 with 27 homers, 69 RBI, 70 runs scored and two steals across 522 plate appearances.
