Bello didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk over four innings in a 19-5 win. He struck out seven.

While the seven Ks were a season high for the right-hander, Bello wasn't particularly efficient and needed 87 pitches (55 strikes) to record 12 outs. He left the mound in line for his second loss of the year until the Boston offense opened the floodgates late. Bello has failed to last five innings in four straight starts, a stretch in which he carries a 5.60 ERA, 2.21 WHIP and 15:13 K:BB over 17.2 innings. He'll look to tighten things up in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Milwaukee.

Povich came away with a no-decision in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

The southpaw generated 31 called or swinging strikes among his 98 pitches (58 total strikes) and left the mound with the O's ahead 2-1, but the bullpen completely melted down in an eventual 19-5 rout for Boston. Povich sports a 3.86 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB over his last five starts and 28 innings, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Cardinals.

Abreu isn't in the lineup for the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

The lefty-hitting Abreu didn't start in the early game against left-handed starter Cade Povich, and it seems the Red Sox are going to keep the 25-year-old outfielder on the bench to conclude Friday's twin bill. Rob Refsnyder will pick up another start in right field and bat third as a result.

Narvaez isn't in the lineup for the second game of Friday's doubleheader against Baltimore.

Narvaez will get the night off after going 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored during a 19-5 win in Game 1. Connor Wong will fill in behind the plate and bat eighth.

Perez was scratched from the lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Twins due to an illness, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Perez will step out of the lineup Friday while he fights off his illness, which will put Freddy Fermin behind the dish and seventh in the Royals' batting order.

Wright (shoulder) is expected to embark on a rehab assignment with Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Sunday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Wright had his rehab assignment with Northwest Arkansas paused due to right shoulder fatigue, but the 29-year-old right-hander has been given the green light to resume his program. He's made two outings in Double-A and has allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out five across six innings. Wright is in the final stages of his recovery from right shoulder surgery that he underwent in October of 2023.

Beavers was placed on Triple-A Norfolk's 7-day injured list Friday due to a right shoulder AC sprain, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Beavers was scratched from Thursday's lineup after running into the outfield wall during batting practice, and the injury is severe enough for him to need a stint on the 7-day IL, per Jake Rill of MLB.com. Beavers is slashing .303/.397/.421 with 15 steals, three home runs and 18 RBI across 175 plate appearances in Triple-A this season.

Buxton (concussion) has begun ramping up his baseball activities and is back to running on solid ground rather than in a pool or on a treadmill, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Buxton and teammate Carlos Correa both landed on the 7-day concussion IL after colliding during a game last week, and while Correa was reinstated from the injured list Friday, Buxton's recovery hasn't been as quick. He remains without a return timeline but appears to be trending in the right direction.

Bellinger isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.

An 0-for-4 performance Thursday put an end to Bellinger's 15-game hitting streak, and he'll now get a chance to catch his breath while Jasson Dominguez starts in left field Friday against Rockies starter Tanner Gordon.

Alvarez (hand) hit off a pitching machine in the batting cage and participated in baseball drills on the field Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Alvarez has been on the 10-day injured list since May 5 due to right hand inflammation. The recovery time has taken longer than initially hoped, and there's no clear timeline for his return, but Alvarez may not need a rehab assignment before being reinstated from the IL. He was slashing .210/.306/.340 with one steal, three home runs and 18 RBI in 121 plate appearances prior to his injury.
