  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Back in action Saturday

Pasquantino (hand) will start at first base and bat fifth Saturday against the Orioles. Pasquantino was activated from the injured list Friday after spending nearly a month on the shelf with a hamate fracture, but Saturday will mark his return to the starting nine. The 28-year-old was slashing .298/.365/.426 across his last 12 games before getting injured, and he went 4-for-11 with three walks, an RBI and a run during his three-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Not in lineup Friday

Pasquantino (hand) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles. Despite being activated from the 10-day injured list earlier in the day, Pasquantino will not be in the starting nine against Baltimore for Friday's series opener. Instead, Salvador Perez will man first base and bat sixth with Nick Loftin hitting eighth and handling DH duties.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Activated from IL

The Royals activated Pasquantino (hand) from the 10-day injured list Friday. Pasquantino suffered a broken right hamate bone last month and missed just 23 games with the injury. He's returning in just under four weeks, beating the typical recovery timeline significantly as Pasquantino was initially expected to be sidelined through the All-Star break. He appeared in three games with Triple-A Omaha on a rehab assignment, going 4-for-11 with three walks. At the time of his injury, Pasquantino had slashed an impressive .309/.397/.436 over his previous 14 games. He'll look to recapture that form during a weekend series against the Orioles.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Could return Friday

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Thursday that Pasquantino (hand) could return from the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Orioles, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports. Pasquantino has been shelved since June 14 after suffering a right hamate fracture, but he's made quick progress in his recovery from surgery and started a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha earlier this week. He's gone 2-for-6 with one RBI and three walks in two games with Omaha, and Pasquantino looks as though he'll have a chance to rejoin Kansas City's lineup for the team's final series before the All-Star break.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Starting rehab assignment Tuesday

Pasquantino (hand) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Pasquantino has been rehabbing at the Royals' spring training complex in Arizona and is now ready to test things out in games. The first baseman had surgery in mid-June to remove a fractured hamate bone in his right hand and is tracking toward a return to the active roster immediately following the All-Star break.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Eyeing rehab assignment before ASB

Pasquantino (hand) will continue his rehab in Arizona to begin July with the hope of embarking on a rehab assignment before the All-Star break, MLB.com reports. Pasquantino hit the injured list June 14 and underwent surgery to remove a fractured hamate bone in his right hand, with an initial recovery timeline of 4-to-6 weeks. Based on that timetable and recent indications, the first baseman isn't expected to rejoin the Royals before the All-Star break, though a minor-league rehab assignment before the break seems to be the tentative plan. Pasquantino is hitting .224/.309/.350 with six homers, 32 RBI, 28 runs and three stolen bases across 68 games this season.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Likely out until All-Star break

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that Pasquantino underwent surgery Sunday to remove a fractured hamate bone in his right hand and will face a recovery timeline of roughly 4-to-6 weeks, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports. The projected timeline is a fairly standard one for hamate surgeries and likely ensures that Pasquantino will be out through the All-Star break. Jac Caglianone is slated to start at first base in Sunday's game against the Astros and should see the bulk of the playing time at the position for the duration of Pasquantino's stint on the 10-day injured list.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Idle against southpaw

Pasquantino is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox. After starting and going 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 7-1 loss while southpaw Ranger Suarez took the bump for Boston, the left-handed-hitting Pasquantino will move to the bench for the series finale. Salvador Perez will fill in for Pasquantino at first base as the Red Sox send another southpaw (Connelly Early) to the bump.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Back in lineup Friday

Pasquantino (back) is starting at first base and batting third against the Mariners on Friday. Pasquantino was out of the lineup for each of the Royals' last two games due to lower-back tightness. He was cleared to pinch hit in Thursday's loss to the Athletics, and he has progressed enough in his recovery to return to the lineup for Friday's series opener. Pasquantino is slashing .165/.274/.320 with three home runs and 14 RBI across 124 plate appearances this season.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Available off bench

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Thursday that Pasquantino (back) is "better today" and will again be available off the bench against the Athletics, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Pasquantino is missing a second straight start due to low-back tightness, an injury that been nagging at him for a bit. However, he was on deck to pinch hit Wednesday and will be available in the same capacity Thursday. Pasquantino has a good chance of returning to the lineup Friday in Seattle.

Pasquantino (back) remains out of the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics. Pasquantino will miss a second straight start with low-back tightness. • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Leaves early Tuesday

Pasquantino was removed from Tuesday's game against the Athletics with lower-back tightness. Pasquantino looked a bit uncomfortable running out of the batter's box during his groundout in the sixth inning, which prompted the Royals to take him out of the game when they took the field in the bottom of the frame. There's currently no information regarding the severity of his injury, but if he needs to miss any amount of time, Salvador Perez or Nick Loftin could see extra time at first base.

Pasquantino was held hitless through his first four at-bats before breaking through in the ninth inning with a 412-foot solo shot off Connor Seabold to extend the lead. The homer was Pasquantino's first of the season and provided a small bright spot amid a difficult start to the year. The 28-year-old is now slashing .155/.244/.239 with nine RBI and five runs scored across 82 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Slow start to 2026

Pasquantino went 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians. Pasquantino went hitless, reaching base only once via a walk in the eighth inning, though nothing came of it in a low-scoring loss for the Royals. After hitting three homers in six games for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic, Pasquantino has gotten off to a slow start to the regular season, slashing .195/.306/.220 through 11 games. While the sample is far too small to raise significant long-term concern, Kansas City could opt to give Pasquantino an off day soon to allow him to reset after starting every game to open the year.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Departs Saturday due to illness

Pasquantino's early exit from Saturday's game against the White Sox was due to a heat-related illness. Pasquantino was pulled from the game following his first-inning at-bat, which ended with a strikeout. Though being removed from a game early is very rarely a positive occurrence, the reason for his exit gives reason to hope that he's not dealing with anything serious. It's unclear if Pasquantino will be able to return to the lineup Sunday for the series finale, however.
