Kwan was removed from Wednesday's game against the Dodgers for unknown reasons, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Kwan was replaced by Nolan Jones in left field following the third inning, but it's unclear what prompted the change. Considering Kwan's everyday role and elite production, it's likely due to some injury or illness. We'll likely receive an update later Wednesday.

Moncada went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Yankees on Tuesday.

The Angels entered the ninth inning on the verge of being shut out, but Moncada got the team on the board with a solo blast off Devin Williams. The long ball was his first extra-base hit over his past four games, a stretch in which he's gone 2-for-14 at the plate. Moncada continues to work as the Angels' primary third baseman, and despite a .222 batting average, he's done some positive things at the plate, including recording five homers and 18 RBI along with a 12.6 percent walk rate over 27 contests.

The Orioles optioned Hiraldo to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Hiraldo had his contract selected Saturday and made his MLB debut, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings Tuesday. Matt Bowman had his contract selected from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Bowman was booted from the 40-man roster May 8 after logging a 5.19 ERA in 16 appearances out of the bullpen to start the season. The 34-year-old will rejoin the bullpen in Baltimore, taking Yaramil Hiraldo's spot on the active roster.

Rice went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 3-2 win against the Angels on Tuesday.

There wasn't much offense in the game, so Rice's 423-foot solo blast in the fourth inning was quite important in what turned out to be a one-run New York victory. The long ball was the 11th of the season for Rice, but just his third so far in May after he went deep seven times in April. Rice is still getting consistent starts -- he's been in the lineup for four of the Yankees' past five games -- but could begin to see a drop in playing time when Giancarlo Stanton (elbows), who is tracking toward an early-to-mid-June return, is activated off the injured list.

Palacios was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Mets.

It's unclear why Palacios was removed from the lineup Wednesday. In his stead, Edgar Quero will step into the DH spot while Mike Tauchman fills Palacios' vacated post in right field.

Manager Joe Espada said Arrighetti (thumb) played catch Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Arrighetti has officially resumed a throwing program, playing catch for the first time since suffering a fractured right thumb April 7. It's an encouraging step in his recovery, and certainly one welcomed by the Astros, who just lost Ronel Blanco (elbow) for the season. Still, Arrighetti isn't expected to be reinstated until July.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Blanco (elbow) will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The team announced that Blanco would be undergoing season-ending elbow surgery Wednesday but didn't supply the specifics regarding the procedure. It's now known that Blanco will require Tommy John surgery, which will likely force him to miss a significant portion of the 2026 campaign. Colton Gordon should hold down Blanco's spot in the rotation until the Astros get Luis Garcia (elbow) or Spencer Arrighetti (thumb) back from the injured list.

Cobb (hip) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Thursday with High-A West Michigan, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Cobb completed a bullpen session Monday and seems to be feeling good enough to see in-game action. The 37-year-old has been battling inflammation in his right hip since February, meaning he will likely require several starts in the minors to prepare for his return. He's not expected back until late June.

Manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Campbell will play first base during one game of Boston's three-game series in Atlanta that starts Friday, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports.

The Red Sox have been searching for an answer at first base since Triston Casas (knee) suffered a season-ending injury in early May, and the search became even more dire a week later when Romy Gonzalez (quadriceps) hit the injured list. Campbell began taking first-base reps during pregame warmups shortly after Gonzalez's injury, and he'll get his first crack at in-game action this weekend. The 23-year-old rookie is slashing .225/.312/.354 in 202 plate appearances this season.
