The Guardians claimed Krook off waivers from the Athletics on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Columbus, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Krook was pushed off the Athletics' 40-man roster Tuesday after allowing two runs in 3.1 innings. He owns a 3.21 ERA in 14 Triple-A frames this season, however, and he'll now attempt to work his way back into the big leagues with Cleveland. Ben Lively (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day IL to make room for Krook on the 40-man.

Anderson re-signed Wednesday with the Angels on a minor-league contract.

After the Angels designated him for assignment last weekend, Anderson elected free agency upon clearing waivers. He quickly linked back up with the Angels on a new minor-league deal and will presumably head back to Triple-A Salt Lake, where he had been working out of the rotation before being promoted to the big leagues May 9. Over his five appearances out of the Angels bullpen, Anderson turned in a 6.30 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB in 10 innings.

Walker (hand) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

Walker had to make an early departure from Wednesday's contest after taking a pitch off his right hand. X-rays came back negative after the game, but the team will give him a day to recover from any lingering soreness that might still be bothering him. As a result, Victor Caratini will fill in at first base Thursday and bat fourth.

Alexander isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game versus Toronto.

After making back-to-back starts at first base in the absence of Nick Kurtz (hip) and going 0-for-6 with three strikeouts, Alexander will grab a seat on the bench Thursday. His absence will put Logan Davidson at first base and ninth in the Athletics' batting order.

Clarke isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.

Clarke has gone just 1-for-17 with 13 strikeouts through his first five MLB games. He'll get a chance to clear his head Thursday while Drew Avans starts in center field, batting seventh.

Chisholm (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Thursday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Chisholm has been out of action since late April due to a strained right oblique, but be began performing baseball activities in mid-May and is now ready to return to game action. Per Greg Joyce of the New York Post, Chisholm will play third base in Thursday's rehab appearance, though it hasn't yet been officially decided that Chisholm will handle that position when he returns to the big club. Chisholm worked exclusively at second base in all 28 games in which he played prior to getting hurt, but he logged 45 appearances at the hot corner in 2024, and his services may be in greater need at the latter position in New York with Oswaldo Cabrera (ankle) likely out for the remainder of the season.

The Rays optioned Seabold to Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

He'll give up his spot in the Tampa Bay bullpen to right-hander Kevin Kelly (glute), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. After getting a call-up from Durham on May 9, Seabold made just two relief appearances for the Rays and gave up an earned run on six hits and one walk over 3.2 innings.

Tampa Bay optioned right-hander Connor Seabold to Triple-A Durham to make room in the bullpen for Kelly, who had been on the shelf since April 11 due to a left gluteal strain. Kelly proved his health during a three-appearance rehab assignment in the minors and should step into a middle-relief role for Tampa Bay.

Gordon is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Rays in Houston.

With the Astros recently announcing that both Hayden Wesneski and Ronel Blanco would need season-ending Tommy John surgery, Gordon and Ryan Gusto have moved into big-league rotation. The Astros will eventually get Spencer Arrighetti (thumb), Luis Garcia (elbow) and Cristian Javier (elbow) back from the injured list, but with none of their returns considered imminent, Gordon could have an extended run as a starter. Through his first three starts across two separate stints in the majors, Gordon owns a 5.52 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 14:2 K:BB over 14.2 innings.

Dobbins struck out one batter and allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks over three innings out of the bullpen in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Brewers.

On Tuesday, Red Sox manager Alex Cora told Mike Monaco of ESPN that Dobbins would at least temporarily move to the bullpen as a result of Richard Fitts making his return from the 15-day injured list. Cora emphasized that Dobbins' move to the bullpen wasn't necessarily permanent, but because the Red Sox will have at least one day off for every week through early July, the team appears unlikely to expand its rotation to six men to make room for the rookie. Though he was able to get some extended work in Wednesday after starter Brayan Bello was lifted midway through the bottom of the fifth, Dobbins could end up heading back to Triple-A Worcester to make regular starts if his opportunities out of the Boston bullpen become more sporadic.
