Harvey (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with the rookie-level Arizona Complex League Royals on Thursday.

Harvey has been shelved since mid-April with a right teres major strain and is finally ready to test things out in a game setting. Given how long he's been sidelined, Harvey's rehab assignment could be a relatively lengthy one.

Melton, who earned a promotion to Triple-A Toledo in June, could be an option for the Tigers' bullpen down the stretch, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Melton has enjoyed success this season, posting a 3.23 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 10 starts for Double-A Erie, then lowering those figures to 3.06 and 1.12, respectively, through seven appearances (six starts) for Toledo. The 24-year-old righty has shown swing-and-miss stuff as well, recording 93 strikeouts in 71.1 innings across both levels. Detroit may not have a spot for Melton in the rotation this year, though he could be an effective bullpen weapon for the Tigers down the stretch as they make their postseason push, similar to what the team did with Jackson Jobe in 2024. For that to be an option, however, Melton would have to be added to the 40-man roster.

The Rangers are expected to call up Tellez from Triple-A Round Rock, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

He would take the roster spot vacated by Jake Burger, who landed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left quad strain. Tellez inked a minor-league contract with the Rangers earlier this month after being released by the Mariners following a stint in Seattle that saw him slash .208/.249/.434 with 11 homers. While Burger and Joc Pederson (hand) are out, Tellez will likely see regular reps against right-handed pitching between first base and designated hitter.

Schmidt shared on a personal social media account that the Tommy John surgery he underwent July 11 was successful, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Schmidt stated in his post that he plans to "focus on healing" as he works to return to competition. The righty hurler was in the midst of a standout campaign before getting hurt, posting a 3.32 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 73:30 K:BB over 78.2 innings spanning 14 games. Though Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he was unsure if Schmidt got the internal brace version of the surgery, per Phillips, the current expectation is that Schmidt probably won't be ready to pitch in a big-league contest again until the 2027 campaign.

The Rangers placed Burger on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left quadriceps strain, retroactive to July 13.

Burger suffered a quad injury Friday that prevented him from starting the Rangers' final two games before the All-Star break. He'll now officially remain on the sidelines to begin the second half and will be eligible to return beginning July 23.

The Orioles claimed Rodriguez off waivers from the Brewers on Wednesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

After spending a chunk of 2023 and all of 2024 pitching in Japan, Rodriguez has yielded 18 runs with a 17:7 K:BB over 18.2 frames at the major-league level in 2025. He will report to Triple-A Norfolk, where he will give the Orioles some swingman depth.

Double-A Akron is expected to reinstate Bazzana (oblique) from the 7-day injured list Friday, SI.com reports.

Bazzana has been out of action with Akron since mid-May due to a right oblique strain, but he was cleared to resume a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on July 5. Through the first seven contests of his rehab assignment, Bazzana has gone 4-for-18 with two doubles, eight walks, seven runs, two RBI and one stolen base. The 22-year-old infielder posted a .795 OPS to go with four home runs and eight steals in 33 games for Akron before landing on the IL.

The Royals acquired Frazier from the Pirates on Wednesday in exchange for infielder Cam Devanney, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Frazier spent the 2024 season in Kansas City and evidently made a positive impression despite slashing just .202/.282/.294 over 104 contests. The 33-year-old hasn't been much better in 2025 with a .255/.318/.336 batting line, but he offers some versatility and could see reps at second base and/or in left field against right-handed pitching.

The Athletics selected Cortes' contract and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Though Cortes will stick around at Las Vegas to begin the second half, the Athletics' decision to move him to the 40-man roster could clear the way for him to make his MLB debut later this season. The 28-year-old outfielder has enjoyed a big season in the Pacific Coast League thus far, slashing .321/.418/.603 with 16 home runs and as many walks (41) as strikeouts (41) over 299 plate appearances.

Bieber (elbow) struck out five and allowed one hit and one walk over two scoreless innings Tuesday in a rehab start with the Guardians' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.

Bieber took the mound for his first rehab start since May 31, when he made a 2.1-inning appearance in the ACL before being pulled off his assignment when he experienced soreness in his surgically repaired right elbow. The setback was always viewed as a minor one, and Bieber's excellent showing Tuesday in his return to the hill seemingly alleviates any concern the Guardians might have about his elbow moving forward. Bieber will likely need to complete at least three more rehab starts in the minors before the Guardians clear him to return from the 60-day injured list, perhaps at some point in early or mid-August.
