Yoshida started in left field and went 0-for-3 in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Cubs.

Yoshida made his first start in the field after a series of appearances as the designated hitter or as a pinch hitter. He was eventually pinch hit for against lefty Drew Pomeranz. Yoshida has gone 6-for-22 (.273) with one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored over seven games since coming off the injured list in the week leading up to the All-Star break.

Bregman entered Sunday's game as a pinch hitter and hit a three-run home run in a 6-1 win over the Cubs.

The Red Sox are managing Bregman's return from a quadriceps injury and held him out of Sunday's starting lineup, but he had an impact off the bench. He helped the team emerge from an offensive slumber that saw the Red Sox score just one run through the first 24 innings of the series. Wilyer Abreu snapped a 21-inning scoreless skid with a two-run homer in the seventh inning, and then Bregman piled on one frame later. Bregman, who finished the game at third base, will start the first two games of the series against Philadelphia on Monday and Tuesday before getting a day off Wednesday.

McKinstry went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Rangers. He also stole a base.

McKinstry plated the first run of the game with an RBI single in the top of the second inning. The utility player also swiped his 16th base of the season in 19 attempts. The 16 steals match a career best for McKinstry, who is nearing his career highs for home runs (nine) and RBI (35) in a season as well. The veteran has been a pleasant surprise, and his strong offensive play is keeping him in the lineup most days for Detroit.

Holton (5-3) tossed a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts to earn the win in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Rangers.

Holton's appearance got off to an inauspicious start, as he uncorked a wild pitch that brought home an inherited runner from third and left Tarik Skubal with a no-decision. However, Holton settled down from there and continued his strong play as of late. Over his last 10 outings, the lefty has allowed just two runs across 14.2 innings while striking out 14. As was the case each of the last two years, Holton has emerged as a valuable bullpen weapon for the Tigers.

Ward went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and four RBI in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Phillies.

Ward drove in four runs on two doubles, highlighted by a bases-clearing gapper in the Angels' five-run second inning. The 24-year-old has come out hot following the All-Star break, tallying five extra-base hits and eight RBI over the weekend. For the season, he ranks fourth in the American League with 73 RBI while slashing .231/.304/.491 with 23 home runs, 55 runs scored and two steals across 421 plate appearances.

Vierling went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.

Vierling's box score doesn't jump off the page, but he provided the key hit by delivering an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning that broke a 1-1 tie. The utility man has struggled to get his bat going during an injury-riddled season, though he's now riding a modest three-game hitting streak, and his playing time has been trending upward recently as well. His versatility gives him a path to a fairly consistent spot in the lineup if he continues to produce at the plate.

Wade went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Phillies.

Wade entered the game after Nolan Schanuel (wrist) was hit by a pitch in the first inning and responded with his first three-hit performance of the season, highlighted by a 422-foot homer in the sixth. The 31-year-old bench piece is now slashing .178/.282/.269 with two home runs, 18 RBI, 18 runs scored and one steal across 229 plate appearances this season and could see an uptick in playing time if Schanuel is forced to miss time.

Latz did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Tigers. He allowed one run on six hits and two walks over five innings with three strikeouts.

The 29-year-old pitched valiantly in his third game started of the season after Nathan Eovaldi (back) had to be scratched from his scheduled start Sunday. The only blemish on Latz's performance came in the second when Zach McKinstry roped a run-scoring single. The Texas southpaw is likely to return to his usual bullpen role following this start, but it is possible he garners another turn in the rotation if Eovaldi's back injury requires additional missed time. Latz is currently enjoying the best season of his career in his fourth year with the Rangers, pitching to a 2.89 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 51:23 K:BB across 53 innings.

Skubal allowed one run on four hits and no walks over 6.2 innings with 11 strikeouts in a no-decision Sunday at Texas.

The reigning AL Cy Young award winner was in peak form during this 105-pitch outing, generating an astounding 20 whiffs to notch his seventh double-digit strikeout performance of the season. Skubal also picked up his 12th quality start, as the only blemish on his evening came when Adolis Garcia scored on a wild pitch in the seventh. The 28-year-old southpaw has been masterful through 127.2 total frames, pitching to a 2.19 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 164:16 K:BB. Skubal is currently slated to make his next start in Detroit's upcoming four-game home series against Toronto later this week.

Torres went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.

As he's done all season, Torres provided a spark from the No. 2 spot in the lineup. It's the second three-hit effort for the infielder over his last five games, and he's gone 8-for-18 overall during the stretch. Torres gets overshadowed a bit by his All-Star teammate Riley Greene, who is among the top 10 in the majors in both home runs and RBI, but the former is having a standout campaign of his own and is a key part of Detroit's offense.
