  • Mariners' Taylor Ward: Drawing back into starting nine as DH

Ward (quadriceps) will start at designated hitter and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers. A sore quad kept Ward out of the starting nine for each of the previous five games, though he made enough improvement for the Mariners to make him available off the bench Tuesday, per MLB.com. However, with the Mariners falling behind by six runs after five innings in what was ultimately a 22-0 loss, Ward wasn't called upon to pinch hit. He'll be able to return to the lineup Wednesday in a non-defensive role, and assuming his quad responds well, Ward should be ready to resume playing right field in short order.

  • Mariners' Taylor Ward: Missing fifth straight start

Ward (quadriceps) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee. Ward has not played since last Wednesday as be battles nagging tightness in his quad. The Mariners have been listing him as day-to-day, but he's available off the bench for Tuesday's series opener and could be back in the lineup Wednesday, per Tim Booth of The Seattle Times. Victor Robles will cover right field in Ward's stead.

  • Mariners' Taylor Ward: Out again Friday

Ward (quadriceps) isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Houston. Ward missed Thursday's game against the Yankees due to quad tightness, and his injury will now force him to sit out Friday's series opener as well. Randy Arozarena, Victor Robles and Dominic Canzone will start across the outfield with Ward out, and Julio Rodriguez will work as the DH.

Ward went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a 3-2 win over Houston on Friday. Ward came to the plate in the eighth inning with his team trailing 2-1 before he belted the eventual game-winning homer. It marked the 32-year-old's second homer in his past three games. On the season, Ward has slashed .256/.388/.367 with seven homers, 27 RBI and three steals in 443 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Bangs out three hits in win

Ward went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Friday's 3-1 win over the Nationals. Hitting leadoff against left-hander Andrew Alvarez, Ward set the table effectively with three singles. The veteran outfielder has found a groove in June, banging out multiple hits in four of the last five games and producing a .295/.380/.421 slash line over 23 games this month with three homers, five RBI and 17 runs.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Homers against former team

Ward went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Monday's 6-1 win over the Angels. This was Ward's first game back in Anaheim after he was traded to Baltimore last November. He's posted consecutive multi-hit efforts, each including a long ball, after going 12 contests without homering. The outfielder is batting .284 (23-for-81) in June and is up to .258 on the year with a .759 OPS, five homers, 22 RBI, 51 runs scored, 17 doubles and two stolen bases over 79 contests as the Orioles' primary leadoff hitter.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Pops rare homer in rout

Ward went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two additional runs scored during the Orioles' 12-1 win over the Dodgers on Sunday. Ward connected on his second homer of the month and only his fourth extra-base hit since the beginning of June. The 32-year-old outfielder has been a fixture near the top of Baltimore's batting order all season, appearing in all but one of the club's first 79 games, but he's really struggling for power during his debut year with the Orioles. Through 358 plate appearances, Ward is slashing .255/.393/.355 with four big flies, 17 doubles, 21 RBI and 49 runs scored.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Belts two-run homer

Ward went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during the Orioles' 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday. Ward capped off the Orioles' four-run fifth inning with a two-run homer off Kevin Gausman to left field. It was just the third home run of the season for Ward, but the veteran outfielder has been better at the plate as of late. He has gone 8-for-21 (.381) with two extra-base hits, three RBI and four runs over his last five games.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Goes deep against Tampa Bay

Ward went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during the Orioles' 4-1 loss to the Rays on Tuesday. Ward wasted no time getting the Orioles on the board, taking the second pitch he saw from Griffin Jax deep to left field for a leadoff home run. However, that ended up being the only run scored by Baltimore. It was Ward's second home run of the season, a far cry from the 36 homers he recorded with the Angels in 2025. However, his .788 OPS this season (215 plate appearances) is only a few ticks lower than last year (.792 OPS across 663 plate appearances).

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Receiving first day off

Ward is absent from the lineup for Monday's game versus the Yankees. It's the first day off this season for Ward, who is in a mini slump with just two hits over his last seven games (though he does have a 9:5 BB:K over that stretch). Colton Cowser will start in left field and bat seventh while Ward grabs a breather.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Blasts first home run

Ward went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Guardians. Ward provided Baltimore's biggest offensive moment, launching a three-run homer off Joey Cantillo in the fifth inning to get the Orioles on the board. It was his first home run of the season after hitting 36 and 25 in his previous two campaigns. While the balls aren't clearing the fence, Ward has been one of the more productive hitters in the league, leading MLB with 11 doubles while slashing .295/.388/.455 with 11 RBI and 11 runs scored across 103 plate appearances in his first season with Baltimore.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Trio of two-baggers in win

Ward went 4-for-5 with three doubles, a run scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the White Sox. The veteran outfielder is still looking for his first homer as a member of the Orioles, but he's been doing plenty of damage nonetheless. Through 12 games to begin the season, Ward is slashing .383/.464/.574 with an astounding nine doubles, five runs and eight RBI with an 8:11 BB:K.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Four-hit effort in loss

Ward went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored during Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Rangers. Tuesday marks the first time that Ward has logged four hits in a game, and his impressive display of hitting puts him at a .300 batting average (6-for-20) through the first five games of the season. He's unlikely to continue at that pace after batting just .228 last year, but he should be able to make up for it once he rediscovers his power stroke.

  • Orioles' Taylor Ward: Crushes first spring homer

Ward went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates. After coming over from the Angels in an offseason trade for Grayson Rodriguez, Ward is preparing to be Baltimore's everyday left fielder in 2026. Ward slashed .228/.317/.475 and set career highs in homers (36), RBI (103) and runs scored (86) over 663 plate appearances for the Angels last season.

Ward agreed to a one-year, $12.175 million contract with the Orioles on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. The 32-year-old will receive a raise of over $4 million in his final year of arbitration eligibility after being traded from the Angels to the Orioles in November. Ward batted just .228 across 157 games in 2025 but set career highs with 36 home runs, 103 RBI and 86 runs.
