Rangers' Chase Silseth: Shipped to Texas
The Rangers acquired Silseth and catcher Logan O'Hoppe from the Angels on Wednesday in exchange for infielder Angel Arredondo, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Silseth has found success in a relief role for the Angels this season, posting a 2.72 ERA and 48:22 K:BB over 39.2 innings. Though he's unlikely to unseat All-Star Jacob Latz as the Rangers' closer, Silseth should continue to work fairly often in high-leverage situations with his new squad.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Up to seven holds
Silseth registered a hold against Detroit on Sunday, allowing one hit in one scoreless inning.
Silseth took the mound in the seventh frame with the Angels holding a 3-1 lead. The right-hander gave up a one-out single but was able to finish the inning without allowing any runs. Silseth began his MLB career as a starter, but he's logged all 43 of his appearances out of the bullpen this season. He frequently worked in high leverage early in the campaign, though Sunday's hold was his first since June 12 -- a span of 14 appearances. Silseth has been one of the team's better relivers overall, compiling a 2.95 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 45:20 K:BB across 36.2 innings.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Handed first loss
Silseth (1-1) allowed an unearned run on a hit with two strikeouts and a walk over one inning to take the loss Wednesday against the A's.
Silseth entered in the 10th inning with the game tied at 5-5 and was unable to prevent the automatic runner from crossing the plate. Despite picking up his first loss, Silseth hasn't allowed an earned run since April 25, although he has a worrisome 1.42 WHIP and 6:5 K:BB over 6.1 innings during that span. His 2.16 ERA through 21 appearances this season is strong, but a 1.62 WHIP and 16:13 K:BB offer a less encouraging outlook.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Could be next in line for saves
Silseth has "probably put himself in the best position for the opportunity" if Angels manager Kurt Suzuki removes Jordan Romano from the closer role, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Romano has blown back-to-back save opportunities and Suzuki was noncommittal Thursday when asked about his closer situation. Silseth has registered three holds this season, collecting a 2.84 ERA and 8:6 K:BB over 6.1 innings along the way. Drew Pomeranz paces the team with five holds and is also an option to replace Romano if a change is made, though he might pitch the ninth inning only if the opposition has lefties due up. A former starter, Silseth did a bit of closing last season at Triple-A Salt Lake, and he's posted a 3.03 ERA and 31:24 K:BB over 32.2 innings across 27 career relief appearances at the major-league level.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Extremely wild Saturday
Silseth allowed one run on four walks and no hits while striking out one batter over one-third of an inning against the Reds on Saturday. He also tossed three wild pitches.
Silseth entered in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs, Ke'Bryan Hayes on second base and the Angels down 5-3. The righty reliever dug the hole much deeper, and Silseth's final line could have been even uglier had Eugenio Suarez not struck out with the bases loaded to end the frame. Overall, he threw just 10 strikes on 25 pitches. Coming into Saturday, he had posted a 1.80 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 6:2 K:BB over five innings spanning seven appearances, so Silseth's bout of wildness Saturday may have been an anomaly.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Will be used as reliever in 2026
Angels general manager Perry Minasian said Monday that Silseth will be used as a reliever in 2026, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
All 10 of Silseth's appearances for the Angels in 2025 came out of the bullpen, and 11 of his 18 outings at Triple-A Salt Lake were in relief. The 25-year-old is out of minor-league options and will likely begin next season in a middle relief capacity.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Summoned from Triple-A
The Angels recalled Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.
Though he's made most of his appearances in the big leagues the past three seasons as a starter, Silseth transitioned to a full-time relief role at Triple-A in late July after returning from a stint on the 7-day injured list. He's thrived out of the bullpen for Salt Lake, tossing 8.2 scoreless frames while striking out 13 over his last nine appearances. The right-hander will likely be deployed by the Angels in lower-leverage spots initially but could work his way up the bullpen depth chart quickly if he excels early on with the big club.

Silseth was recalled Wednesday but will head back to the minors just one day later. He has yet to pitch in the majors in 2025, but he's maintained a 3.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with a 41:24 K:BB across 36 innings with Salt Lake.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Called up by Halos
The Angels recalled Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Although Silseth has transitioned to a relief role in the minors this season, he could be used out of the Angels' rotation this weekend against the Cubs while Jose Soriano (personal) is on the paternity list. Silseth last saw major-league action in 2024, when he made two starts and posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over eight innings.
