Yoshida will start at designated hitter and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Yoshida will make his second straight start against a right-handed pitching, and he could begin to find himself in the lineup on a more frequent basis with Ceddanne Rafaela seeing more playing time at second base to cover for Marcelo Mayer (wrist), temporarily relieving Boston's logjam in the outfield/DH ranks.

Interim manager Tony Mansolino said that Rutschman (oblique) is scheduled to be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rutschman has gone 2-for-15 with a double in four rehab games and is on the cusp of rejoining the big club. The 27-year-old has been on the shelf with a strained oblique for over a month. He was in the midst of an underwhelming campaign prior to the injury with a .227/.319/.372 slash line in 276 plate appearances.

The Royals recalled Bowlan from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

The right-hander will provide Kansas City with a fresh arm in the bullpen, but he's unlikely to be entrusted with a high-leverage role. Over his previous stints in the majors this season, Bowlan has made 17 appearances and has delivered a 4.94 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB in 23.2 innings.

The Royals placed Bubic (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Sunday after he was diagnosed with a left rotator cuff strain.

Bubic complained of shoulder stiffness after Saturday's start, and the Royals quickly determined that he was dealing with an injury to his rotator cuff. According to Anne Rogers of MLB.com, manager Matt Quatraro said that Bubic will undergo further testing, but the left-hander is a good bet to miss more than the minimum 15 days. The loss of Bubic -- who earned his first All-Star nod after compiling a 2.55 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 116 strikeouts in 116.1 innings over his first 20 starts this season -- is a devastating blow to a Kansas City rotation that has been missing Cole Ragans (shoulder) since early June.

The Blue Jays selected Sanchez's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Sanchez will be active for Sunday's game against the Tigers after Alejandro Kirk (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list. Sanchez is unlikely to play more than a couple times per week with Tyler Heineman handling starting duties behind the dish. Sanchez previously logged 11 plate appearances with Toronto earlier this season but has spent the bulk of the 2025 campaign at Buffalo, slashing .279/.347/.419 with six home runs over 199 plate appearances.

The Blue Jays placed Kirk on the 7-day injured list Sunday after he was diagnosed with a concussion.

After being struck in the catcher's mask by a foul tip in the third inning Saturday, Kirk was pulled from the contest and sent in for further evaluation. With tests confirming a concussion, he won't be eligible to return until at least Aug. 3, though fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Kirk needs more than a week to exit the concussion protocol. Ali Sanchez was called up from Triple-A Buffalo to provide the Blue Jays with another option behind the plate, but Tyler Heineman will handle starting duties in Kirk's absence.

The Rangers optioned Helman to Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

He'll cede his spot on the 26-man roster to Joc Pederson (hand). After getting called up from Round Rock this past Monday, Helman quickly settled into the short side of a platoon in center field with Evan Carter, making three starts while going 2-for-7 with a home run, four RBI and an additional run. Sam Haggerty was reinstated from the IL earlier in the weekend and will most likely replace Helman as Carter's platoon mate.

The Rangers reinstated Pederson (hand) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. He'll start at designated hitter and bat fifth against Atlanta.

Texas optioned Michael Helman to Triple-A Round Rock to clear room on the 26-man roster for Pederson, who missed two months while recovering from a fractured right hand. Though he made one of his two rehab starts at first base, he's expected to be Texas' primary DH. Prior to the injury, Pederson had gotten off to a slow start to his first season with the Rangers, slashing just .131/.269/.238 over 145 plate appearances. On a positive note, Pederson had been striking out at a career-low 19.3 percent.

The Tigers optioned Sweeney to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Sweeney will give up his spot to Kerry Carpenter (hamstring), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. After being called up from Toledo on July 2, Sweeney mainly served as a bench player for Detroit, appearing in 14 games while going 2-for-24 at the dish. He should play on an everyday basis at Triple-A.

The Tigers reinstated Carpenter (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. He'll start in right field and bat third in the Tigers' series finale with the Blue Jays.

Infielder Trey Sweeney was optioned to Triple-A Toledo to make room on the 26-man active roster for Carpenter, who has been on the shelf since June 29 due to a right hamstring strain. Between the corner-outfield and designated-hitter spots, Carpenter should be a regular presence in the Detroit lineup against right-handed pitching.
