The Royals optioned Melendez to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

With the Royals' acquisitions of Randal Grichuk and Mike Yastrzemski this past week, Melendez will head back to the minors. Melendez has slashed an ugly .083/.154/.167 with one home run, one RBI, five runs scored and a 3:23 BB:K across 65 plate appearances at the major-league level this season.

The Royals activated Loftin (concussion) from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Loftin is not in the lineup for Friday's series opener in Toronto. The 26-year-old utility man has slashed .216/.254/.378 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored, one stolen base and a 4:18 BB:K across 118 plate appearances this season. Loftin figures to lose playing time after the Royals' acquisitions of Randal Grichuk and Mike Yastrzemski.

The Red Sox optioned Bernardino to Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

The Red Sox needed to open a spot on the 26-man roster for Steven Matz, so Bernardino heads to Worcester after registering a 3.09 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 36:22 K:BB across 43.2 innings of relief for Boston this season. Bernardino should be back with the Red Sox at some point this season.

Gonzalez was promoted to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Gonzalez began the season at High-A and was promoted after hitting .319 with five home runs and a .907 OPS in 34 games for Cedar Rapids. He then slashed .344/./429/.509 with four home runs in 55 games for Double-A Wichita. After missing extended time with a back injury last season, he's re-established himself as one of the better hitting prospects in the Twins organization.

The Twins selected Urena's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Following the Twins' fire sale at the trade deadline, Urena will head to the majors and give the team an arm capable of starting or pitching in long relief. The Twins will be Urena's fourth team this season after he pitched with the Mets, Dodgers and Blue Jays already in 2025, logging a 5.40 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings.

The Twins recalled Ohl from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Ohl made his MLB debut Tuesday, taking a loss to the Red Sox while allowing four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four over three innings. Though he was optioned to Triple-A immediately after that contest, Ohl is eligible to rejoin Minnesota two days later after the Twins had several openings on the 26-man active roster following Thursday's trade deadline. Though he started and tossed 72 pitches against Boston, Ohl could end up working out of the bullpen during his upcoming stint with the Twins. Minnesota still has an opening in the rotation that it will need to fill during next week's series in Detroit, but trade-deadline pickups Taj Bradley and Mick Abel could end up getting the call over Ohl to step in as the club's new No. 5 starter.

The Twins recalled Roden from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Roden was initially assigned to St. Paul after being acquired from the Blue Jays on Thursday, but he'll be called upon to fill one of the many openings on the big club's 26-man active roster in the wake of the trade deadline. With the Twins moving several key pieces at the deadline, Roden could get an extended trial in the outfield over the final two months of the season. The 25-year-old posted a .589 OPS in 44 games in the majors with Toronto this season but slashed .331/.423/.496 in 142 plate appearances at Triple-A Buffalo.

The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Martin dealt with hamstring issues earlier in the season and has yet to play in the big leagues in 2025. Following the Twins' fire sale at the trade deadline, Martin will rejoin Minnesota, providing depth at second base and in the outfield. Martin slashed .319/.431/.398 with one home run, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 21:17 BB:K across 137 plate appearances with St. Paul.

The Twins recalled Julien from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, LaVelle E. Neal III of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

With Luke Keaschall (forearm) staying in Triple-A for a longer rehab assignment, Julien may get steady time at second base and first base in the near term after the Twins shipped out nine players at the trade deadline. Julien had heated up at Triple-A after struggling in the majors this spring, as he was hitting .276/.415/.464 with 11 home runs in 70 games at St. Paul.

The Twins recalled Fitzgerald from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Fitzgerald made his MLB debut with Minnesota earlier this season, receiving three plate appearances across two games. He scored one run but is still looking for his first major-league hit. Fitzgerald gives the Twins some infield depth following the trades of Carlos Correa, Willi Castro and Ty France.
