  • Red Sox's Lucas Giolito: Goes eight innings in win

Giolito (8-2) earned the win Sunday over the Astros, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over eight innings. He struck out four.

It was an excellent performance from Giolito, who went a season-high eight innings, with Houston's lone run coming on Carlos Correa's homer in the fourth. After a rocky start to his Red Sox tenure, Giolito has turned into one of Boston's more reliable starters, posting a 2.03 ERA over his last 10 outings (62 innings). Overall, the right-hander sports a 3.57 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and 81:27 K:BB through 17 starts (95.2 innings) this season. Giolito is currently scheduled to face the Padres on the road his next time out.

  • White Sox's Jesse Scholtens: DFA'd by White Sox

The White Sox designated Scholtens for assignment Sunday.

The right-hander was activated from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned to Triple-A Charlotte, and he's now been removed from the 40-man roster while the White Sox open up a spot for right-hander Elvis Peguero, who was claimed off waivers from the Brewers. Scholtens has been sidelined since spring training of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he posted a 5.28 ERA across his eight rehab outings with Charlotte.

  • Zach McKinstry 2B | DET

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Idle against lefty

McKinstry is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

The left-handed-hitting McKinstry will take a seat for the second time in the series while the Phillies send another southpaw (Cristopher Sanchez) to the hill. With McKinstry on the bench, Javier Baez will cover shortstop, and Matt Vierling will serve as the Tigers' starting center fielder.

  • Elvis Peguero RP | CHW

White Sox's Elvis Peguero: Claimed off waivers

The White Sox claimed Peguero off waivers from the Brewers and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

The right-hander was demoted to Triple-A Nashville in mid-May and was designated for assignment by Milwaukee on Thursday to make room on the 40-man roster for the club's acquisitions at the trade deadline. Peguero had a 2.98 ERA in 52 big-league appearances last season, though it was accompanied by a 1.54 WHIP.

  • Yankees' Bryan De La Cruz: Clears waivers

The Yankees outrighted De La Cruz to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

De La Cruz will remain with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after slashing .251/.323/.438 with 10 home runs and six steals in 55 games before the Yankees designated him for assignment Thursday. Before landing with the Yankees in May via a waiver claim, the outfielder struggled to a .191/.240/.213 slash line with Atlanta over 50 plate appearances in the majors.

  • Bryan Hudson RP | CHW

White Sox's Bryan Hudson: Claimed by White Sox

The White Sox claimed Hudson off waivers from the Brewers and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

The left-hander was designated for assignment by Milwaukee on Thursday but was quickly able to find a home on another organization's 40-man roster. Hudson was a key bullpen piece in 2024 with a 1.73 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 62:17 K:BB across 62.1 innings, but he had a 4.35 ERA in 12 big-league appearances and struggled to a 6.84 ERA at the Triple-A level so far in 2025.

  • Luis Urias 2B | TOR

Athletics' Luis Urias: Succumbs to back issue

Urias was removed from Sunday's game against the Athletics after one inning due to lower back spasms, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Urias started at second base and played the opening frame before Gio Urshela came off the bench to replace him in the top of the second. The 28-year-old's turn in the batting order didn't come up before he was pulled from the game, so the back injury presumably cropped up while he was playing defense. The Athletics are off Monday, so Urias will have some extra time to recover before the team opens a three-game series in Washington on Tuesday.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Rangers' Rowdy Tellez: Making fourth straight start

Tellez will start at first base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Tellez will crack the lineup for a fourth straight game, as the Rangers are reopening a regular role for him against right-handed pitching with Josh Jung (calf) having been on the bench for each of those contests. If Jung is able to avoid a stint on the injured list or if Jake Burger (quadriceps) is activated in the coming days, Tellez could be squeezed out of a regular lineup spot before long.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | KC

White Sox's Josh Rojas: Nabbing fourth straight start

Rojas will start at second base and will bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Angels.

He will cover second base Sunday while Chase Meidroth (thumb) is on the bench for the third game in a row, but Rojas could be in store for regular playing time at third base once Meidroth rejoins the lineup. Rojas had started in each of the previous three contests, going 2-for-10 with a solo home run, a double and a walk.

  • Chase Meidroth 2B | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Remaining on bench Sunday

Meidroth (thumb) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Meidroth will miss out on a third consecutive start while he continues to tend to a bruised right thumb after being hit by a pitch Wednesday. Josh Rojas will spell Meidroth at second base and will bat ninth Sunday.
