  • Darell Hernaiz SS | ATH

Athletics' Darell Hernaiz: Stepping in as everyday shortstop

Hernaiz will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

With Jacob Wilson (forearm) stuck on the injured list, Hernaiz appears to have taken over as the Athletics' primary shortstop. He'll collect his fifth straight start Sunday after going 5-for-14 with a solo home run over the previous four contests.

  • Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Resting against southpaw

Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

After starting in each of the last five games while the Athletics faced off against right-handed pitchers, the lefty-swinging Soderstrom will hit the bench Sunday versus Diamondbacks southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez. JJ Bleday will cover left field in the series finale while Soderstrom rests.

  • Carlos Cortes RF | ATH

Athletics' Carlos Cortes: Idle for series finale

Cortes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The left-handed-hitting Cortes had started in each of the Athletics' last five games, but he'll take a seat Sunday while the Diamondbacks send southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez to the hill. Brent Rooker will cover right field Sunday, but Cortes should hold down a regular spot in the Athletics outfield against right-handed pitching until Denzel Clarke (hip) returns from the injured list.

  • Angels' Gustavo Campero: On bench after six straight starts

Campero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Campero will head to the bench after he had started in right field in each of the last six games while going 4-for-17 with a home run, three stolen bases and four RBI. With Mike Trout (illness) back in the lineup after a two-game absence and occupying the designated-hitter spot, the Angels won't have room in the starting nine for Campero while Taylor Ward, Bryce Teodosio and Jo Adell make up the Los Angeles outfield from left to right.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Resting up Sunday

O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

O'Hoppe will receive a breather after he started behind the plate in each of the past three contests while going 1-for-9 with two walks and one run. Travis d'Arnaud will handle the catching duties Sunday.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

Angels' Yoan Moncada: On bench in Moore's return

Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

After missing three straight games due to a hand injury, Moncada returned to the lineup Wednesday and went 1-for-9 with a walk and a run while starting at third base in each of the subsequent three contests. With the Angels bringing back Christian Moore (thumb) from the injured list Sunday, he'll step in at second base while Luis Rengifo shifts over to the hot corner, leaving no room in the lineup for Moncada. In an effort to open up steady at-bats for all of Moore, Moncada and Rengifo, the Angels could opt for something resembling a three-man committee between the second- and third-base spots for the foreseeable future.

  • Mike Trout CF | LAA

Angels' Mike Trout: Moves past ailment

Trout (illness) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Sunday's game against the White Sox.

The Angels will get two key players back in the lineup for the series finale, as Trout returns from a two-game absence due to an illness, while Christian Moore (thumb) will start at second base in his return from the 10-day injured list. Though Trout has served exclusively as a DH since rejoining the Angels in late May following a month-long stay on the IL due to a bone bruise in his left knee, he's still hopeful to resume playing right field before the end of the season. Since experiencing some renewed soreness in his knee shortly after the All-Star break, Trout hasn't resumed taking part in defensive drills, so it's unclear how realistic a return to the outfield might be with just two months left in the campaign.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Sitting again Sunday

Jung (calf) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Jung finds himself on the bench for a fourth consecutive game as he continues to manage calf soreness. Josh Smith will pick up another start at the hot corner, opening up first base for Rowdy Tellez.

  • Scott Kingery 2B | CHC

Angels' Scott Kingery: Heading to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Kingery to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Kingery was called up by the Halos last weekend but didn't pick up a start during his week in the majors. The 31-year-old is batting .160 (4-for-25) with a double and a stolen base in 14 big-league games this season.

  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Not in Sunday's lineup

Butler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The 25-year-old started the previous nine games and will receive a day off against Arizona lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. Butler struggled to a .461 OPS and 30 percent strikeout rate during that span. Brent Rooker will get a look in right field while Shea Langeliers rests his legs as the designated hitter.
