  • Rangers' Caleb Boushley: Back in MLB

The Rangers recalled Boushley from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old will claim the roster spot vacated by Nathan Eovaldi, who landed on the injured list Wednesday with a season-ending shoulder injury. Boushley has turned in a 5.22 ERA through 39.2 innings with the Rangers despite owning a 1.08 ERA in Triple-A, and he'll presumably take on a multi-inning role out of the bullpen now that he's back in Arlington.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi: Officially placed on injured list

The Rangers placed Eovaldi (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Sunday.

Eovaldi is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign due to a rotator cuff strain, cutting short what had been a phenomenal season with a 1.73 ERA and 0.85 WHIP through 130 innings (22 starts). Caleb Boushley will join the Rangers' bullpen and take Eovaldi's place on the active roster; meanwhile, Jacob Latz will claim the fifth spot in the rotation.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Enters concussion protocol

Caratini is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies and is being evaluated for a concussion, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The veteran catcher has taken a couple foul balls off his mask recently and is now in danger of landing on the injured list. Cesar Salazar is starting behind the plate Wednesday and will operate as the backup to Yainer Diaz (hand) while Caratini is unavailable.

  • Brady Basso RP | ATH

Athletics' Brady Basso: Headed to majors

The Athletics recalled Basso from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

With Joey Estes (back) headed to the injured list, Basso will come up from Triple-A to round out the Athletics' pitching staff. The 27-year-old has worked primarily as a starter throughout his career but has transitioned into a relief role since returning from a shoulder injury that kept him on the shelf until Aug. 11. Now back in the bigs, he'll presumably continue to work in middle relief.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

Astros' Yainer Diaz: Battling hand issue

Diaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies due to a hand injury, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The 25-year-old was withheld from the lineup for Tuesday's contest and will sit for a second straight game due to the injury. With Diaz down and Victor Caratini in the concussion protocol, Cesar Salazar was promoted from Triple-A Sugar Land and will get the start behind the plate Wednesday.

  • Joey Estes SP | ATH

Athletics' Joey Estes: Lands on 15-day IL

The Athletics placed Estes on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Monday, with a herniated disc in his lower back.

Estes performed well Sunday during his return to the majors, firing four shutout innings while allowing one hit and striking out one batter. He'll now be forced to sit out until at least Sept. 9, however, and the A's will call up Brady Basso from Triple-A to fill the opening on the active roster.

  • Angels' Jack Kochanowicz: Officially recalled

The Angels recalled Kochanowicz from Triple-A Salt Lake ahead of his start Wednesday versus Texas.

After giving up 25 runs (22 earned) in 21.2 innings over his last five starts in the majors, Kochanowicz's ERA ballooned to 6.19 before being demoted to Salt Lake on Aug. 11. He'll match up against a Rangers offense Wednesday that put up eight runs against him in just 2.2 frames July 10 and has registered an .811 OPS over its last 10 games.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Won't start this week

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that Berrios won't make his next start until Tuesday in Cincinnati, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Berrios will have gone more than a week between starts, as he most recently took the hill in Miami this past Saturday, when he struck out eight batters and allowed two earned runs over 6.1 innings. The veteran right-hander doesn't seem to be dealing with an injury coming out of the start, but he'll be pushed to the back of the pitching schedule as the Blue Jays realign their rotation ahead of an important series this weekend against the NL-leading Brewers and next weekend against the Yankees, who sit four games behind Toronto in the AL East. The Blue Jays are now tentatively slated to have their top three members of the rotation -- Shane Bieber, Kevin Gausman and Max Scherzer -- make one start apiece in both of those series.

  • Sam Bachman RP | LAA

Angels' Sam Bachman: Dispatched to Salt Lake

The Angels optioned Bachman to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Bachman gave up one run in two innings during his appearance Tuesday, bringing his ERA down to 4.96 through 16.1 innings in the majors. He'll now head back to Triple-A, where he owns a 0.49 ERA, to make room for Wednesday's starter, Jack Kochanowicz.

  • Astros' Cesar Salazar: Recalled from Sugar Land

The Astros recalled Salazar from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Salazar was up with the big club briefly earlier this season, going 1-for-7 at the dish. He'll temporarily step in as the Astros' No. 2 catcher behind Yainer Diaz (hand) after Victor Caratini (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list Wednesday.
