Gonzalez (wrist) fielded grounders Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Gonzalez is working his way back from a left wrist sprain, so being able to take grounders with his injured hand would appear to be a good sign. He's eligible to return Sunday and the hope is that he could be back by then or shortly after.

Cruz is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Southpaw Jose Quintana is toeing the rubber for the Mets, so Pirates manager Derek Shelton felt this was a good time to give the left-handed hitting Cruz a breather. The fact that Cruz is 0-for-9 with seven strikeouts over the last two games was probably also a factor. Alika Williams will fill in at shortstop Tuesday.

Lindor went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Monday's win over the Pirates.

It's been a tough start to the campaign for the shortstop, but Lindor is beginning to come around. He's delivered back-to-back two-hit games, and over the last eight contests he's batting .257 (9-for-35) with two doubles, a homer, four RBI, six runs and a sharp 4:1 BB:K.

Alexander leads all shortstops with minus-6 outs above average, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

Geraldo Perdomo's knee injury presented an opportunity for Alexander, and while the infielder has hit well, his fielding could cost him starts. He had miscues during the team's road trip in Atlanta, which prompted a meeting with manager Torey Lovullo, who reassured the shortstop that he loves his game but there's work to do. Infield coach Tony Perezchica is confident in Alexander's range but emphasized the need to make the routine plays. Thus far, Alexander hasn't let the defense affect his offense (.286/.359/.457).

Abrams went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run and a double in Monday's 6-4 victory against the Dodgers.

Abrams led off the game with a double, reached third base on a groundout and scored on a Tyler Glasnow wild pitch. He added a solo homer off Tyler Glasnow in the third inning to round out a productive night. Abrams has gone 5-for-13 over his past three games, with all five of his hits during that span going for extra bases. On the season, he has an impressive 1.004 OPS with four homers, three doubles, two triples, 10 RBI, nine runs and three stolen bases over 60 plate appearances.

Henderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 7-4 win over the Twins.

Henderson logged his fifth multi-hit effort of the season, two of which have come over his last two games. The shortstop has gone 9-for-30 (.300) with two homers and five RBI across his last seven contests, putting his struggles from earlier in May behind him. Overall, he's slashing .250/.319/.516 with four long balls, 11 RBI, 11 runs scored, four stolen bases, two triples and a double through 16 games as Baltimore's leadoff hitter.

Rocchio went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 6-0 win over the Red Sox.

Rocchio has just two hits over his last six contests, but he was able to draw a walk Monday for the first time since April 4. He's maintained the starting job at shortstop through his recent slump, though Gabriel Arias is starting to hit well and could pose a threat to Rocchio's playing time. For the season, Rocchio is batting .224 with one steal on two attempts, three RBI, five runs scored and six doubles over 53 plate appearances.

Bichette went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's win over the Yankees.

After swiping his first base of the season Friday night against Colorado, Bichette quickly added his second steal Monday against the Yankees. The Toronto shortstop only stole five bases in 2023, so it's possible he is looking to return to his running ways, as he stole 38 bases from 2021 to 2022. Bichette's first 65 plate appearances have been rough so far as he's slashing .217/.277/.333.

Seager is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Detroit.

It's a routine day off for Seager, who has now started 14 of 17 games so far this season. The Rangers are going with Josh Smith at shortstop and Ezequiel Duran at third base.

Anderson (illness) will start at shortstop and bat fourth in Monday's game versus the Giants.

Anderson missed the previous two contests with an illness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go Monday. It's the first time this season that he's been up in the cleanup spot for Miami, as Anderson has mostly hit sixth or seventh.
