Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA
Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Not starting Saturday
Edwards (back) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.
Edwards left in the third inning of Friday's game due to lower-back discomfort that he experienced when stealing second base. Vidal Brujan will start at shortstop Saturday and bat eighth against Cubs southpaw Shota Imanaga.

David Hamilton 3B | MIL
Red Sox's David Hamilton: Sitting down Saturday
Hamilton isn't in Boston's lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
Hamilton will sit down for Saturday's contest after going 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Friday's series opener. His absence will allow Mickey Gasper to pick up a start at second base while batting seventh.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Delivers two in win
Seager went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI in Friday's 5-3 win over Cleveland.
Seager provided the winning blow with a two-run double in the second inning. The shortstop leads the Rangers with 70 RBI, fueled by a productive month. Seager has a .992 OPS with nine homers and 20 RBI over 19 games in August.

Jeremy Pena SS | HOU
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Homers in loss
Pena went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's 7-5 loss to the Orioles.
A rest day Thursday was good for Pena, as he drove in a run on a double in the third inning and crushed a 418-foot solo home run in the sixth. Over his past 10 games, the shortstop has tallied four multi-hit efforts with three homers and two steals. On the season, he is hitting .277 with 13 long balls, 59 RBI, 65 runs scored and 15 stolen bases across 520 plate appearances.

Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA
Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Exits early Friday
Edwards was removed from Friday's game against the Cubs due to lower-back discomfort, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Edwards singled during his lone at-bat Friday and then stole second base, but he was replaced at shortstop once the Marlins took the field in the third inning. The severity of his back injury remains unknown, though Vidal Brujan would presumably take over as Miami's starting shortstop if Edwards is unable to play Saturday.

Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Back in lineup
Rojas (hamstring) is starting at shortstop and batting seventh in Friday's game against Tampa Bay.
Rojas was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against Seattle due to a left hamstring injury. The Dodgers' day off Thursday seems to have done the trick, and the 35-year-old will return to action after a one-game absence. Since being reinstated from the injured list Aug. 7, Rojas has gone 13-for-38 with five runs scored, two stolen bases and five RBI.

Ryan Kreidler SS | MIN
Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Joining big-league club
The Tigers recalled Kreidler from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
Javier Baez (back/hip) is headed to the injured list, creating a need for infield depth. Kreidler could find himself on the short side of a platoon with Trey Sweeney at shortstop for the Tigers. Kreidler slashed .136/.208/.205 in 48 plate appearances with Detroit earlier this season.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Moved to injured list
The Tigers placed Baez on the 10-day injured list due to lumbar spine and hip inflammation Friday.
The veteran shortstop battled right hip discomfort earlier in August and he'll now require a stint on the IL with hip and lumbar spine swelling. Baez spent nearly a month on the injured list from June 11 to July 8 due to lumbar spine inflammation as well. It's unclear how long he might be sidelined this time. Ryan Kreidler was recalled from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move, but Trey Sweeney should see the majority of the action at shortstop in Baez's absence.

Luis Vazquez SS | BAL
Cubs' Luis Vazquez: Officially called up
The Cubs recalled Vazquez from Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Ryan Herrera of AllCHGO.com reports.
Vazquez will relace David Bote -- who was designated for assignment -- on the Cubs' 26-man roster. The 24-year-old Vazquez appeared in a pair of big-league games at the end of May before returning to Iowa, slashing .263/.327/.484 across 105 plate appearances since. The infielder could mix in at second base, third base or shortstop as needed.
