Smith kicked off the fun of Texas' eight-run sixth inning, leading off with a single. He hit second in the order after serving as a leadoff hitter recently. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy has tinkered with the lineup, hoping to unlock a struggling offense, and it worked Tuesday. Smith, who is currently filling in for the injured Corey Seager (hamstring) at shortstop, is batting .319/.402/.458 with 10 walks, two home runs, six RBI, four steals and 13 runs scored through 24 games.

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Aiming for weekend return
Meidroth (thumb) could return during the White Sox's upcoming weekend series against the Astros, MLB.com reports.
Meidroth landed on the injured list April 21 due to right thumb inflammation. There have been very few updates about his recovery, though everything appears in line for him to return in short order. It's also unclear if he'll engage in a short rehab assignment prior to activation.

Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 9-0 win over the Pirates.
Swanson entered the game 0-for-9 over his last two contests and batting just .181 overall, but he responded to a move down to the No. 8 spot in the order with his fifth home run of the season. The shortstop should maintain his regular role despite the early struggles, and he has the talent to get things going in a hurry.

Henderson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 15-3 loss to the Orioles.
The Orioles didn't have as much firepower as the Yankees on Tuesday, but Henderson managed to supply one run for Baltimore on a solo homer in the seventh inning. It was his third home run of the season, and the 23-year-old shortstop is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak, going 6-for-19 (.316) over that span.

Abrams went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, one RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies.
Abrams hit an RBI double in the seventh inning and later scored in the ninth after a single. He also had a triple in the third inning and fell a home run shy of the cycle. Abrams now has five multi-hit games in 17 appearances this season, resulting in a .279/.306/.559 slash line.

Turner went 4-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over Washington.
Turner singled and scored a run in the first inning before knocking an RBI double and scoring again in the eighth. It was his second straight game with at least three hits and his fourth multi-hit performance over his last nine appearances. Turner bumped his season slash line up to .290/.367/.364 with six extra-base hits and 15 runs scored.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Sent to Arizona to work on swing
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Tuesday that Montgomery will go to the team's spring training complex in Arizona to work on his swing, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Montgomery will do one-on-one work with director of hitting Ryan Fuller and is expected to remain in Arizona for 1-to-2 weeks. The young shortstop has slashed just .149/.223/.255 with a 41.7 percent strikeout rate this season at Triple-A Charlotte.
