Nick Allen SS | HOU
Braves' Nick Allen: Remains on bench Wednesday
Allen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Allen will hit the bench for the second game in a row after he ended a recent four-game run as Atlanta's starting shortstop on a down note by striking out in all three of his plate appearances in a 4-0 loss to the Marlins last Saturday. Orlando Arcia, meanwhile, went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in his return to the lineup in Tuesday's 7-5 win and will be in the starting nine again Wednesday. Arcia's longer track record at the big-league level looks like it might be enough to keep him ahead of Allen on the depth chart for now, despite a poor start to the season.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Braves' Orlando Arcia: Starting again Wednesday
Arcia will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
After a four-game benching, Arcia returned to the lineup Tuesday and reached base twice in four plate appearances in Atlanta's 7-5 win. He'll get another chance to build on that performance by starting again Wednesday as he looks to solidify himself as Atlanta's everyday shortstop ahead of Nick Allen.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Homers twice in win
Seager went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Cubs.
Seager opened the scoring with a first-inning homer off Shota Imanaga before adding a second long ball off Nate Pearson in the seventh, extending the Rangers' lead to 6-1. Seager looks to be heating up at the plate -- he now has back-to-back two-hit games after going 5-for-31 (.161) with just one homer in his first nine contests this year.

Brooks Baldwin SS | CHW
White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Heading to bench Wednesday
Baldwin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
Baldwin will begin Wednesday's game on the bench after he started in each of the last six games while playing four different positions (second base, shortstop, left field and right field). The White Sox haven't settled on a permanent spot for Baldwin, but the switch-hitting utility player should continue to hold down a near-everyday role.

Greg Jones CF | MIL
White Sox's Greg Jones: Gets call-up from Triple-A
The White Sox recalled Jones from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
Jones was claimed off waivers just before Opening Day and is now up in the majors despite hitting just .138/.286/.276 with a 40 percent strikeout rate at Charlotte. He could see some action in left field while Andrew Benintendi (adductor) is on the injured list.

Jonathan Ornelas SS | ATL
Rangers' Jonathan Ornelas: Optioned to Triple-A
The Rangers optioned Ornelas to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Ornelas was recalled in late March but played sparingly, making just one start. Ezequiel Duran and Dustin Harris have joined the big club as Ornelas goes down and Wyatt Langford (oblique) lands on the injured list.

Kevin McGonigle SS | DET
Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: On shelf with right ankle sprain
McGonigle's placement on High-A West Michigan's 7-day injured list Tuesday was the result of a right ankle sprain, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
McGonigle suffered the injury while running the bases in his season debut Friday, when he went 2-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI. He's taking part in daily rehab for the ankle injury but is without a clear timeline to return to action.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Checking back into lineup
Abrams (thigh) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
Abrams was held out of the lineup for the past two games while dealing with right thigh tightness, but the Nationals never expressed much concern that the issue would force the young shortstop to the injured list. He'll be back at his familiar spot atop the lineup and in the infield for the series finale, while Paul DeJong shifts back over to third base after making the last two starts at shortstop.
