  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Continues homer barrage

Edman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in an 8-4 win against the Cubs on Saturday.

Edman ignited a six-run third inning with a solo shot off Chicago starter Drew Smyly and tacked on a double in the sixth. The 27-year-old infielder has now homered four times in his last six games and is batting 10-for-25 (.400) with eight extra-base hits during the stretch. The recent binge comes on the heels of a 48-game homerless streak between June 15 and Aug. 14.

  • Pirates' Tucupita Marcano: Absent from Saturday's lineup

Marcano isn't starting Saturday against the Blue Jays, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Marcano started the last six games and went 4-for-19 with a triple, three runs, an RBI, a walk and six strikeouts. Jack Suwinski is starting in left field and batting cleanup Saturday.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Retreats to bench

Rojas will sit Saturday against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Rojas missed a game earlier in the week due to right wrist discomfort but returned Friday, going 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts. It's unclear if the issue has gotten worse again or if the Marlins simply don't want to ask him to play on consecutive days while not 100 percent healthy. Joey Wendle will be Saturday's shortstop.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Still not starting

Berti (hip) isn't in the lineup Saturday against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Berti is out of the lineup for a second consecutive game due to right hip soreness. Luke Williams will take over at the hot corner and bat ninth Saturday.

  • Vaughn Grissom 2B | LAA

Braves' Vaughn Grissom: Pops fourth homer

Grissom went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 8-1 win over the Marlins.

The rookie took Sandy Alcantara deep in the fourth inning, one of five Atlanta homers on the night and Grissom's fourth in the majors. He's cooled down somewhat since a blistering start to his big-league career, but over his last 12 games, the 21-year-old is still slashing ,267/.298/.422 with two homers, one steal, five RBI and seven runs. His 14.9 percent strikeout rate during that stretch doesn't suggest the league has figured him out yet.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Swipes 17th bag

Swanson went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 8-1 win over the Marlins.

While the rest of the Atlanta lineup was flexing its muscles and erupting for five homers, Swanson was flashing his speed. The 28-year-old shortstop is up to 17 steals on the year, wiping away his prior career high of 10. He's three home runs and three stolen bases away from his first 20-20 campaign.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Sets new career high in homers

Edman went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 8-0 win over the Cubs.

Edman put a bow on the Cardinals' big win with his eighth-inning blast. That was his fourth homer in his last 10 games and his career-high 12th long ball of the year. During his recent hot stretch, the infielder has gone 14-for-41 (.341) with 10 RBI, eight runs scored and two steals. He's slashing .258/.319/.398 with 50 RBI, 85 runs scored and 26 stolen bases through 128 games overall.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Rare day off Friday

Turner isn't starting Friday against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Turner started the first 130 games of the season and will get his first day off Friday after he went just 1-for-12 with a stolen base, a walk and two strikeouts over the last three games. Gavin Lux is starting at shortstop and batting sixth.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Not in Friday's lineup

Perdomo is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Brewers.

Perdomo started the past seven games and will head to the bench after going 5-for-21 with four walks, six RBI, six runs and a stolen base during that span. Wilmer Difo, who was promoted from Triple-A Reno on Thursday, will take over at shortstop Friday.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Out Friday with hip issue

Berti (hip) is not in Friday's lineup against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Berti left Wednesday's game with right hip soreness and is not ready to get back into the mix. Joey Wendle will start at third base while Charles Leblanc starts at second base.
