Trea Turner SS | PHI
Phillies' Trea Turner: Sinks in batting order
Turner will bat sixth and start at shortstop in Tuesday's game against the Marlins.
Turner has now batted between fifth and seventh in the order in four consecutive games while the Phillies have since tried out Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm in the No. 2 spot the shortstop had occupied for most of the season. Even though Turner has showed modest signs of a turnaround by reaching base five times in the last three games, his on-base percentage is still below .300 for the season and sits at .278 since the All-Star break. Needless to say, Turner has been a major disappointment for fantasy managers who invested a top-three pick into him on draft day after he signed an 11-year, $300 million deal with Philadelphia in December.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Returns at shortstop Tuesday
Edman (wrist) is starting at shortstop and batting seventh Tuesday versus the Twins.
Edman will be playing in his first major-league game since he landed on the injured list in early July because of right wrist inflammation. He looks poised to serve as the Cardinals' primary shortstop after Paul DeJong was traded to the Blue Jays on Tuesday, though top prospect Masyn Winn is said to be knocking on the door for a late-season promotion.

Masyn Winn SS | STL
Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Likely late-season call-up
The Cardinals may wait to call up Winn until mid-to-late August in order to preserve his rookie status heading into the offseason, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Winn may be ready for a promotion after batting .357/.418/.690 with nine home runs, three steals and a 12.8 percent strikeout rate over his last 29 games with Triple-A Memphis. However, by keeping Winn in the minors for another three weeks or so, they can make sure he is still eligible for Rookie of the Year in 2024 in an attempt to net a draft pick like Seattle did with Julio Rodriguez in 2022. Tommy Edman will likely be the primary shortstop for now with Paul DeJong getting dealt to Toronto.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Marlins' Joey Wendle: Sitting versus lefty
Wendle is in the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies.
He'll be in action out of the No. 6 spot in the order despite the fact left-hander Ranger Suarez is on the mound for Philly. Wendle has drawn only 18 plate appearances this year versus southpaws, compared to his 203 plate appearances against righties.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Activated from injured list
St. Louis activated Edman (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Edman is a potential trade candidate for the Cardinals with the 6:00 p.m. ET deadline fast approaching, but for now, he is back on their active major-league roster following a three-week absence to heal a bout of right wrist inflammation. The versatile 28-year-old has slashed .237/.303/.391 with seven homers and 14 steals in 84 games this season when healthy.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Pops solo home run
Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Reds.
Swanson went deep in the second inning against Cincinnati starter Andrew Abbott, giving him 13 home runs for the season. The shortstop has four of those long balls over his last 14 games after recording just nine home runs across his first 78 games with the Cubs. Swanson's recent pace suggests he could finish the year with a power surge and possibly get to the 25-homer plateau for the third straight season.

Diego Castillo 3B | MIN
Diamondbacks' Diego Castillo: Back in majors
The Diamondbacks recalled Castillo from Triple-A Reno on Monday.
Josh Rojas was sent to Seattle as part of the Paul Sewald trade, so Castillo will join the major-league squad to make up for lost depth. The 25-year-old infielder has yet to play in a big-league game this season, but he's slashed .340/.442/.450 across 370 plate appearances in Triple-A.

Kevin Made SS | WAS
Nationals' Kevin Made: Shipped to Washington
Made was traded from the Cubs to the Nationals on Monday along with DJ Herz in exchange for Jeimer Candelario, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
A 20-year-old shortstop, Made has the defensive chops to play in the big leagues someday, but he hasn't shown much promise with the bat. Made has hit .244/.337/.359 with three home runs and three steals in 71 games during a repeat of High-A as a 20-year-old.

Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Earning more work in outfield
Berti will start in left field and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Marlins manager Skip Schumaker will continue to lean on the sizzling Berti, who will pick up his eighth straight start and his 10th in 11 games even though Miami has all its key position players available again with Jazz Chisholm and Avisail Garcia returning from the IL. Berti, who is slashing .472/.500/.611 with four extra-base knocks and three stolen bases since the All-Star break, is starting to gain traction in left field, where he's made three of his last four starts. While he continues to weld a hot bat, Berti looks as though he'll play ahead of Garcia and Avisail Garcia as the Marlins' third outfielder after Chisholm and Bryan De La Cruz.
