De La Cruz went 0-for-2 with a walk and stole two bases in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Mets.

De La Cruz saw an end to his eight-game hit streak to the start the season, but he managed to make an impact. He stole the two bases after a sixth-inning walk but was left stranded at third. The infielder ranks fifth in MLB with five steals.

Turner went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's win over Washington.

Turner doubled in his first at-bat before coming around to score on a J.T. Realmuto home run two batters later. The star shortstop then added an infield single and swiped a bag in the eighth, giving him three steals on the season. Turner has now hit safely in seven of nine games to open the 2024 campaign but is still looking for his first home run.

The Diamondbacks placed Perdomo (knee) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

As expected, Perdomo was deactivated after Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reported earlier Sunday that the shortstop was diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his right knee. Perdomo will need surgery and is expected to miss at least one month, with a firmer target date set to come into focus once he's cleared to resume baseball activities. Arizona selected Kevin Newman's contract from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move to add depth to the middle infield in the interim, but rookie Blaze Alexander may be the top candidate to replace Perdomo as the Diamondbacks' everyday shortstop.

Abrams (finger) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

The 23-year-old shortstop was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to a bone bruise of his left pinky finger, and he'll sit for the second straight game Sunday. Abrams should be considered day-to-day as Ildemaro Vargas receives a start at shortstop.

Perdomo was diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his right knee Sunday and will require surgery, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

The 24-year-old hasn't seen the field since Wednesday due to the injury and is now expected to be sidelined for at least the next month. Perdomo should officially move to the injured list shortly. Blaze Alexander appears set to fill in at shortstop for Arizona, though veteran Kevin Newman is also expected to have his contract selected from Triple-A Reno.

Alexander is expected to see regular starts at shortstop due to Geraldo Perdomo's (knee) expected placement on the 10-day injured list ahead of Sunday's game in Atlanta, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

According to Piecoro, Perdomo tore the meniscus in his right knee Wednesday and needs surgery, which will likely keep him out for at least one month. The righty-hitting Alexander had already been a mainstay in the lineup versus left-handed pitching early on in the season, but the rookie should get the opportunity to face same-handed pitching more frequently while Perdomo is on the mend. Along with Alexander, utility men Jace Peterson and Kevin Newman -- the latter of whom is expected to be called up from Triple-A Reno -- will be candidates for added reps at shortstop. Alexander posted an .865 OPS with eight home runs and two stolen bases over 73 games at Reno last season and has gotten off to a strong start in the big leagues, slashing .278/.350/.444 through his first 20 plate appearances.

Alexander started at shortstop and went 0-for-4 in Saturday's 9-8 loss to Atlanta.

Alexander was added to the starting lineup against lefty Max Fried, as the Diamondbacks are operating without primary shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (knee), who was expected to undergo an MRI on Saturday. Alexander could make a second straight start Sunday with another left-hander -- Chris Sale -- scheduled for Atlanta. The rookie infielder is 5-for-18 with a home run, three RBI and a stolen base with seven strikeouts to begin his MLB career.

Cruz went 2-for-6 with an RBI and a stolen base Saturday against Baltimore.

Cruz's most notable contribution came in extra innings when he delivered a walk-off single. He also led off the third inning with a base knock and proceeded to swipe his first base of the campaign. Though Cruz has also chipped in two home runs early on this season, he's striking out at a 35 percent clip. That's inflated due to the number of lefties Pittsburgh has encountered to this point, but Cruz will still need to make more consistent contact to maintain the pace of his current production.

Tovar went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and a stolen base in a loss to the Rays on Saturday.

Tovar was one of three Rockies with multiple hits in the contest, and he reached base a third time via walk. The shortstop nabbed his first theft of the campaign in the sixth inning, stealing second before coming around to score his second run of the game. Tovar has begun the season in promising form, slashing .290/.371/.548 with a pair of home runs, five RBI and four runs through nine games.

Much has been made of De La Cruz's strikeouts early on this season -- the swing-and-miss concerns are valid -- but he now has a 13-game hitting streak dating back to last season. He also has three steals in four attempts so far in 2024. The 22-year-old has been locked into the No. 6 spot in the lineup against both righties and lefties early on and looks to have some leash under manager David Bell to work out the remaining kinks in his game.
