  • Angels' Andrew Velazquez: Goes deep Saturday

Velazquez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 11-6 victory against the Mets.

The Angels slugged five homers against New York in the win, and Velazquez contributed to that tally with his 402-foot solo shot in the sixth inning. The shortstop is mired in a 2-for-31 slump over his past 11 games, but both of his hits during that span have left the yard. Velazquez has four homers and eight stolen bases on the season, but he's slashing a paltry .177/.226/.280 across 178 plate appearances.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Out of Sunday's lineup

Mateo is not in Sunday's lineup against the Royals.

He is 2-for-25 with 12 strikeouts in nine games this month. While Mateo is a strong defender, he could lose out on everyday playing time if he can't get out of this slump. Richie Martin is starting at shortstop and batting ninth.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Manages steal in loss

Pena went 0-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Marlins.

Pena reached on an error, stole second and scored on a Jose Altuve double in the fifth inning, but that was the only run the Astros could muster. Through nine games in June, Pena has yet to record hits in consecutive contests. He's cooled off to a .270/.322/.449 slash line with eight home runs, five steals, 25 RBI and 24 runs scored in 52 games overall, though he's still seeing a near-everyday role at shortstop.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Not in Saturday's lineup

Correa is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Correa has gone 6-for-12 (.500) since being activated from the injured list, but he will get a day off Saturday for maintenance purposes. Nick Gordon will start at shortstop in Correa's place.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Sitting out Saturday

Witt is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Witt tallied two hits in each of his last three games, but manager Mike Matheny decided it was time to give him his first day off of the month. Nicky Lopez will man the shortstop position in Witt's place.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Productive day at the plate

Bichette went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, totaling two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's victory over the Tigers.

Friday's contest was Bichette's third two-hit game in a row and his fourth game in a row with a hit. He seems to have a proclivity for two-hit performances, with nine of them since May 24. The shortstop has picked up a hit in seven of his last nine contests, raising his season batting average to .266. Bichette is up to 10 home runs on the season after his two-run shot on Friday.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Slugs fifth homer

Correa went 3-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 9-4 win over the Rays.

The Twins already had the game well in hand when Correa launched his fifth homer of the year off Calvin Faucher in the eighth inning. The shortstop hasn't missed a beat since a nine-game stint on the COVID-19 list, and over his last 14 contests dating back to May 18, Correa is slashing .362/.431/.603 with five doubles, three homers, eight RBI and 10 runs.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Returns to lineup with blast

Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-3 loss to the White Sox.

Seager returned to the lineup after getting a break Thursday amid a 1-for-20 slide. The slump continued over his first three plate appearances Friday, before Seager swatted an eighth-inning homer, his team-leading 12th.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Steals in consecutive games

Crawford went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and a stolen base in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Red Sox.

After posting all of one stolen base in his first 53 games of the year, Crawford has now swiped a bag in each of his last two contests. He's also hit safely in five straight games, going 7-for-21 (.333) in that span. The shortstop has a .295/.386/.440 slash line with three steals, five home runs, 15 RBI, 26 runs scored, 12 doubles and a triple in 233 plate appearances.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Nabs steal Thursday

Mateo went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 7-5 loss to the Royals.

Mateo has now hit safely and scored a run in back-to-back games since snapping an 0-for-13 skid to start June. The shortstop also picked up his first steal since May 28 in the third inning. He's posted a .212/.242/.352 slash line with four home runs, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored and 14 stolen bases through 52 games this year.
