Braxton Ashcraft SP | PIT
Pirates' Braxton Ashcraft: Heads to Triple-A IL
Triple-A Indianapolis placed Ashcraft on its 7-day injured list July 6 with an unspecified injury.
Ashcraft had previously been placed on Indianapolis' IL on June 28 before being activated July 6, but it's unclear if his latest injury is related to the previous one or a new concern. While the IL stints in quick succession certainly aren't ideal, Ashcraft has otherwise continued to excel when he's been able to take the mound. Over his last 10 outings between Indianapolis and Double-A Altoona, Aschraft has rung up a 1.39 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 59:10 K:BB in 51.2 innings.

Michael Burrows SP | HOU
Pirates' Mike Burrows: Comes off Triple-A IL
Triple-A Indianapolis reinstated Burrows (elbow) from its 60-day injured list Tuesday and assigned him to the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
Burrows had been on the shelf all season while he completed his recovery from April 2023 Tommy John surgery. He began a rehab assignment in the FCL on June 17 and later moved on to Single-A Bradenton, posting a 7.36 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB in 11 innings across his five rehab starts. Though Burrows appears to be fully healthy again, the Pirates will have him stick around in Florida a little longer to iron out the kinks before he's deemed ready to reclaim a spot in the Triple-A rotation.

Cade Cavalli SP | WAS
Nationals' Cade Cavalli: Rehab assignment on pause
Cavalli (elbow/illness) had been scheduled to report this week to the Nationals' spring training facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. to continue his rehab program, MLB.com repoorts.
On the mend from Tommy John surgery, Cavalli began his second rehab assignment June 21 with High-A Wilmington, but he hasn't pitched since then after coming down with the flu. Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reported July 3 that Cavalli's rehab assignment had been shut down, but the Nationals haven't provided any word that the right-hander is dealing with a setback with his elbow. Since it has been almost four weeks since Cavalli last pitched, he will need to time to get stretched back out whenever he's cleared to resume his rehab assignment, so a return from the 60-day injured list doesn't seem imminent. He turned in a 2.16 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 13 strikeouts in 8.1 innings across his first three rehab appearances.

David Peterson SP | NYM
Mets' David Peterson: Returns from paternity leave
The Mets activated Peterson (personal) from the paternity list Monday.
Peterson was away from the club for its final series before the All-Star break against the Rockies, but he'll be back on the roster for the start of the second half Friday in Miami. The Mets haven't revealed their post-break rotation plans yet, so it's not clear when Peterson's first start of the second half will come.

Huascar Ynoa SP | LAA
Braves' Huascar Ynoa: Starting rehab assignment in FCL
Atlanta sent Ynoa (elbow) to the rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment.
Ynoa will be making his first appearance since he was shut down in mid-April with a right elbow stress reaction. The right-hander is on Atlanta's 60-day injured list, but he should eventually get optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett once he completes his rehab assignment. Ynoa hasn't pitched at the major-league level since 2022, having missed all of 2023 following Tommy John surgery.

Quinn Priester SP | MIL
Pirates' Quinn Priester: Follows Keller for win
Priester (2-5) allowed one earned run on three hits across two innings to earn the win Sunday against the White Sox.
Priester entered the game in the fourth inning after Mitch Keller struggled through his start. He wasn't dominant in the outing but did induce four groundball outs to earn his second win of the season. He's also pitched well in two outings since returning from the injured list, allowing three earned runs across eight innings with an 8:2 K:BB. Priester is still an option for the rotation out of the All-Star break with both Jared Jones (lat) and Bailey Falter (triceps) sidelined.

Randy Vasquez SP | SD
Padres' Randy Vasquez: Takes fifth loss
Vasquez (2-5) took the loss Sunday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings.
Vasquez kept Atlanta off the scoreboard through three frames before eventually surrendering a run in the fourth and another in the fifth. He was pulled after five at just 73 pitches while registering six whiffs. Vasquez will head into the All-Star break on a bit of a nice groove. Over his last four starts, the righty has posted a 2.21 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB in 20.1 innings. On a larger scale, Vasquez hasn't been as sharp, as he owns a 4.57 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB in 63 innings.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
Braves' Chris Sale: Picks up another win Sunday
Sale (13-3) earned the win over the Padres on Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings.
Sale let up a run in the opening frame but was able to limit the damage to just a run after allowing three base hits in the inning. He silenced the Padres from there to pick up his league-leading 13th win and his third consecutive victory. He becomes the first Atlanta pitcher since 2000 to head into the All-Star break with 13 wins. Sale has now allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last seven starts and heads into the break with a 2.70 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 140:24 K:BB in 110 innings.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Giants' Alex Cobb: Next rehab outing coming Monday
Cobb (hip/shoulder) is scheduled to make the fourth start of his rehab assignment Monday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, MLB.com reports.
Cobb had made each of his first three rehab starts with Single-A San Jose, but with all levels of minor-league baseball in the midst of their All-Star break except for rookie ball, he'll head to Arizona to continue his progression. In his latest rehab outing with San Jose this past Wednesday, Cobb built up to 55 pitches and four innings while striking out four batters and giving up three runs on five hits and one walk. Including his upcoming outing Monday, Cobb will likely need to make at least two more rehab starts before the Giants would consider bringing him back from the 60-day injured list. Cobb has been on the shelf all season while recovering from offseason hip surgery but was expected to return at some point in the first half before a bout with shoulder irritation in mid-April resulted in a shutdown period that pushed back his timeline for activation.

Robbie Ray SP | SF
Giants' Robbie Ray: Impresses in latest rehab start
Ray (elbow) struck out nine batters and gave up one hit and one walk over five scoreless innings in his rehab start Sunday with Single-A San Jose.
Making his ninth and perhaps final minor-league rehab appearance as he works his way back from May 2023 Tommy John surgery, Ray submitted his lengthiest and best outing yet. He built up to 74 pitches (56 strikes) in the rehab start and now owns a 4.13 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 38:4 K:BB in 24 innings over stops with San Jose, Triple-A Sacramento and the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. With Ray looking fully recovered from elbow surgery from both a workload and performance standpoint, he appears poised to return from the 60-day injured list to make his Giants debut coming out of the All-Star break. If the Giants opt to keep a five-man rotation intact rather than expanding to six, rookie Hayden Birdsong would seem to be most at risk of losing his starting spot once Ray is activated.
