Wade Miley SP | CIN
Brewers' Wade Miley: Diagnosed with groin strain, headed for MRI
Miley was diagnosed with a strained left groin and is set to undergo an MRI, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Miley suffered the injury while trying to field a bunt during Wednesday's Cactus League game against the A's. The severity of the issue remains unclear at this point, but more should be known once his MRI results surface. Miley appeared to be on the verge of earning a spot in the Brewers' Opening Day rotation, so this injury comes at an unfortunate time.

Brewers' Wade Miley: Leaves Wednesday's game with apparent injury
Miley left Wednesday's outing after suffering an injury trying to field a bunt in the fifth inning, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Miley immediately came up lame after fielding the ball and had to be escorted to the dugout with head athletic trainer Dan Wright. This injury comes at a very inopportune time for the left-hander, as Miley appeared to be on the verge of earning the final spot in the Brewers' rotation. There will be an update on his status in the coming hours.

Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Won't throw for several days
Lorenzen (shoulder) won't throw for "several days" as he recovers from his strained teres major muscle, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports. The Reds won't commit yet to Lorenzen needing to go on the DL, but there are just eight days of spring training remaining.
This injury has been compared to a similar injury that teammate Brandon Finnegan suffered last season, albeit not as severe. It's noteworthy that Finnegan was out much longer than expected, had setbacks in his attempt to return and still isn't all the way up to speed this year yet.

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Closer to locking down spot
Mahle went five innings Tuesday night against the Padres, holding them to two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out six, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports. "I try not to think about it too much," Mahle said of waiting to see if he won a roster spot. "They're going to decide whatever they want. For myself, I like to go out and have good outings. It makes my life a lot easier and me a lot happier. I'm not too worried about what they're going to decide."
Injuries to Anthony DeSclafani and Brandon Finnegan have opened the door for Mahle to try to win a starting job, and Mahle has marched right through. He has a 2.75 ERA with a 15:3 K:BB over 19.2 innings so far this spring.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Expected to be third starter
Matz will pitch third in the Mets' rotation, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Matz had been in competition with Zack Wheeler for a spot in the Mets' rotation, but Jason Vargas' broken hand allows them both in to start the season. With Matz lining up as the third starter, ahead of both Wheeler and Matt Harvey, he appears the early favorite to keep his place once Vargas returns, though that could of course change if Wheeler outpitches him over their opening few starts of the season.

Hunter Greene SP | CIN
Reds' Hunter Greene: Turns heads in intrasquad game
Greene was dominant in his two-inning intrasquad outing Tuesday, yielding an infield single and hitting a batter while striking out three, J.J. Cooper of Baseball America reports.
Cooper clocked Greene's fastball in the 95-to-99 mile-per-hour range and relayed that the right-hander induced eight swings and misses with his 31 pitches. Greene, who is also regarded as a plus power hitter, still needs to further refine his secondary offerings, but the 19-year-old has thus far justified the hype he has received since being selected No. 2 overall in the 2017 first-year player draft.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Tosses bullpen session
Hendricks (illness) threw a 105-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Bruce Levine of 670thescore.com reports.
Hendricks was scratched from his scheduled appearance during Tuesday's spring game due to strep throat. There shouldn't be any concern about his availability as Opening Day approaches.

Odrisamer Despaigne SP | MIA
Marlins' Odrisamer Despaigne: Roughed up by Nats on Tuesday
Despaigne allowed four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings while striking out four in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.
The right-hander began his outing with four scoreless innings before fading, with the big blow against him being a two-run homer by Bryce Harper in the sixth. Despaigne has bounced between starting and relief this spring with generally acceptable results, posting a 16:8 K:BB in 20 innings, and he remains in the mix for a rotation spot to begin the season. His experience in long relief could work against him, however, as the Marlins' other patchwork starting options don't figure to go deep in games very often, putting a lot of strain on the bullpen. His career 4.72 ERA and 5.3 K/9 leave a lot to be desired from a fantasy perspective.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Smacked around by Marlins on Tuesday
Strasburg allowed three runs on eight hits and three walks over 4.1 innings while striking out two in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins.
Lewis Brinson led off the game with a homer, and Strasburg never really regained his footing after that. The right-hander now has a 9:5 K:BB through 9.2 spring innings, which isn't ideal, but he's looked healthy and there's no reason to suspect Tuesday's struggles will continue into the regular season.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Lackluster start Tuesday
Musgrove struggled in his Tuesday start, allowing six runs on eight hits in four innings.
He's pitched in only two games (6.2 innings) due to a cranky shoulder, and while he's expected to make two more starts before breaking camp, Pittsburgh doesn't need a fifth starter until April 8. "We're looking forward to him making a large number of starts for us this year," general manager Neal Huntington said. "Which start he gets is something we're working through at this point." It's possible Musgrove starts the season on the disabled list, freeing up a roster spot for another pitcher or bench player.
