  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Strikes out 11 in win

Corbin (4-1) gave up one run on four hits and one walk while striking out 11 through eight innings to earn the win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Corbin only allowed five baserunners as he cruised to his fourth win. The 29-year-old was dominant, generating 18 swinging strikes, including 12 on his slider. He has been on a tremendous run, posting quality starts in eight of his nine outings this season. Corbin will look to stay hot in his next start Monday against the Mets.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Experiences shoulder soreness

Walker (elbow) was removed from his rehab outing at extended spring training Wednesday after experiencing right shoulder soreness, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

It was Walker's second game appearance at extended spring training as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery in April 2018. The 26-year-old is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the shoulder issue.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Headed for MRI

Manager Torey Lovullo said Greinke exited Wednesday's game against the Pirates with abdominal tightness, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

Greinke apparently suffered the injury on his final pitch of the day. The right-hander will undergo an MRI on Friday, after which the severity of the injury should clear up. Prior to exiting with the injury, Greinke had allowed just five baserunners (four hits, one walk) while striking out five across 7.2 scoreless innings.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Reds' Alex Wood: Could be out until All-Star break

Wood (back) could begin throwing next week, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Manager David Bell said that if Wood progresses without any setbacks over the next five days, he could be cleared to begin a throwing program early next week. Seeing as Wood has been sidelined since spring training with a lower-back strain, he'll need to build back up to a starter's workload from scratch, which could take until the All-Star break.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Moving to bullpen

Peralta will be available out of the bullpen beginning Friday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

With Chase Anderson (finger) set to rejoin the rotation Saturday, Peralta will transition to a relief role. The right-handed Peralta has struggled with command and inconsistency this season, resulting in a 6.16 ERA and 1.63 WHIP across 30.2 innings. Peralta could rejoin the rotation should an opening arise, but he'll offer length out of the bullpen for the Brewers for the time being.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Set to rejoin rotation Saturday

Anderson (finger) will be activated from the injured list to start Saturday's game against the Braves, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Anderson got through a rehab start with no issues earlier in the week, clearing the way for him to rejoin the rotation over the weekend. HIs return will push Freddy Peralta to the bullpen. Prior to landing on the shelf with a blister, Anderson compiled a 3.20 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB in 19.2 innings (seven appearances, two starts).

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Exits with trainer

Greinke exited Wednesday's game against the Pirates with an apparent injury, John Perrotto of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Greinke had just thrown his 91st pitch before calling for a trainer and subsequently exiting the game. The right-hander was stellar before being removed, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out five across 7.2 scoreless innings. Greinke will undergo further evaluation in the coming days, after which more should be known about the severity and nature of his injury.

  • Braves' Touki Toussaint: Earns promotion

Toussaint was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

This explains why Toussaint was scratched from his scheduled start with the Stripers on Wednesday. The right-hander should offer depth out of the bullpen during his time with the Braves. In three appearances (one start) with Atlanta this season, Toussaint has posted a 6.35 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB in 11.1 innings. Jesse Biddle was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Braves' Touki Toussaint: Scratched from minor-league start

Toussaint was scratched from his start for Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

The move appears to foreshadow a promotion to the big leagues, though no announcement has been made yet. Toussaint has already spent a pair of stints in Atlanta this season, starting one game and relieving in two more.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Tosses two innings Wednesday

Martinez (shoulder) allowed one run on four hits and one hit batter in two innings for Double-A Springfield on Wednesday, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports.

Martinez only needed 20 pitches (14 strikes) to record six outs thanks to a pair of double plays. Assuming the right-hander checks out OK in the coming days, he could be activated from the injured list for the team's weekend series against the Rangers. Martinez is expected to work out of the bullpen upon rejoining the Cardinals, though according to Hayes, he's hoping to return to a starting role sometime after the All-Star break, if the Cardinals allow it.
