Corbin Burnes SP | ARI
Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Excelling out of bullpen
Burnes pitched two innings and allowed only an unearned run in Tuesday's victory over the Phillies.
Burnes struggled as a starter early in the season, prompting the Brewers to first option him and eventually move him back into a bullpen role. He allowed three earned runs over two innings in his first appearance back with the big club May 1, but he has been lights-out since, giving up no earned runs over seven innings while posting an 11:1 K:BB. The Brewers still view Burnes as a starter long term, but with him excelling out of the bullpen and the club on the verge of having seven viable starting-pitching options, it's likely he will continue pitching in relief for the time being.

Sixto Sanchez SP | MIA
Marlins' Sixto Sanchez: Brilliant in Double-A debut
Sanchez gave up one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings while striking out seven for Double-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.
After a couple of lackluster starts at High-A to begin his campaign, Sanchez made the jump to the Southern League and looked right at home. The Marlins' No. 2 fantasy prospect only threw 46.2 innings in the Phillies' system last year, so his workload will likely be closely monitored going forward, but a big summer at Double-A could put the 20-year-old in position to make his big-league debut in 2020.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Pitches seven scoreless frames
Musgrove (2-4) tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit with three walks and five strikeouts to earn a victory against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old made it through seven innings on just 75 pitches, but in a somewhat surprising move with a three-run lead and an afternoon game Wednesday, manager Clint Hurdle turned to his bullpen for the eighth. Owners still have to love this start after Musgrove yielded 13 earned runs in his previous 5.2 innings. He is now 2-4 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 40 strikeouts in 47.2 innings this season. He is scheduled to start again at the Padres on Sunday.

Chris Paddack RP | TEX
Padres' Chris Paddack: Has worst outing of season
Paddack (3-2) struggled against the Dodgers on Tuesday, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits and one walk in 4.2 innings to take the loss. He struck out three.
The rookie sensation breezed through the first two innings before a pair of two-run homers in the third turned the game around. Paddack had trouble putting hitters away in this one, as his three strikeouts were a season low. Meanwhile, the five hits he allowed were a season high -- which speaks volumes about how well we has pitched this year. Despite the rough outing, he'll take an impressive 1.99 ERA and 0.75 WHIP into Pittsburgh in his next start Sunday.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Picks up third win
Kershaw (3-0) allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five over seven innings en route to a victory over the Padres on Tuesday.
All three runs Kershaw allowed came by way of the home run, including a 423-foot blast to center by former teammate Manny Machado. Still, the former MVP and Cy Young Award winner navigated his way to a fourth quality start in five outings this season and earned his third win in his last four games. Kershaw's velocity and strikeouts may be down this season, but he remains one of the most feared lefties in the game. He'll carry a 3.40 ERA and 0.96 WHIP into his next scheduled start against Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Activation potentially imminent
Martinez (shoulder) will make a rehab appearance for Double-A Springfield on Wednesday and could be activated from the injured list during the team's upcoming weekend series against the Rangers, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
Martinez is slated to exceed the 30-pitch mark for a second straight rehab appearance Wednesday. If the right-hander emerges without setbacks, there's reportedly a solid chance he'll be activated in the coming days. Martinez has yet to allow a run over 4.2 minor-league innings across four rehab appearances and has recorded six strikeouts over that span.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Shuts down Phillies
Woodruff (6-1) allowed one hit and five walks while striking out five across six scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Phillies.
Woodruff wasn't able to work deep into the game as his five walks drove his pitch count up. However, he shut down the Phillies' lineup, with the only hit he allowed coming in the first inning. He wasn't particularly dominant -- he generated only five swinging strikes -- but managed to succeed despite his issue with free passes. Since his velocity crept up to 96 mph in his April 27 start, Woodruff has allowed just three earned runs across four starts spanning 21 innings. He'll look to work deeper into games as the season progresses, beginning with his next start, which is likely to come Sunday at Atlanta.

Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT
Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Roughed up by Brewers
Eickhoff (2-2) allowed five earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two to take the loss Tuesday against the Brewers.
Eickhoff was burned by the long ball -- he surrendered a three-run home run to Yasmani Grandal and a two-run shot to Ryan Braun -- in his worst start of the season. However, those were the first two home runs he's allowed this season, and despite the rough outing, his 2.65 ERA and 1.15 WHIP are indicative of how well he had pitched prior to the start. Despite the strong results, it's worth noting that Eickhoff continued to issue free passes Tuesday, and has now allowed 3.4 BB/9 across 34 innings. He'll look to rebound in his next start, likely to come on Sunday at home against the Rockies.

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: No-decision against Red Sox
Freeland didn't factor into the decision against the Red Sox on Tuesday, giving up three earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking three as the Rockies eventually prevailed 5-4 in 11 innings.
Freeland hurled a quality start, but would ultimately settle for the no-decision as the Rockies needed extra innings to dispatch of the Red Sox. Still, it was a welcome sight to see him put together a solid outing, as Freeland has struggled so far this season, with a 5.68 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 50.2 innings. He'll look to build on this effort in his next start, which will see him take on the Phillies on the road Sunday.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Wild in win
Flaherty (4-3) earned the win Tuesday, allowing three runs on three hits and five walks while striking out six over six innings in a 14-3 victory over the Braves.
Flaherty was spotted plenty of support in this start, allowing him to overcome a shaky fifth inning in an otherwise solid start. Flaherty has a 4.34 ERA and 1.28 WHIP, but also owns a 53:18 K:BB and 3.4 BB/9 this season. The 23-year-old will try to build on this win in his next start Sunday against the Rangers.
