Buehler (1-0) allowed six hits over six shutout innings Friday, striking out four batters and earning the win over Washington.

Buehler quickly rolled through four innings without much trouble but had runners in scoring position in the fifth and sixth frames. He was able to get out clean and pick up the win on Justin Turner's solo homer in the sixth. The 26-year-old Buehler has eight strikeouts and a 1.50 ERA through 12 innings and has yet to issue a walk this season. Buehler will get another home start next Thursday against the Rockies.

Gomber (0-2) allowed two runs on a hit and four walks over 6.1 innings in a loss to the Giants on Friday. He struck out five.

Gomber still had difficulty finding the strike zone, but Friday's outing was actually a noticeable improvement from his first start. The southpaw hasn't been punished too much for his high walk rate -- he has a 2.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with seven strikeouts and 11 free passes across 9.1 innings this year. He's still in search of his first win with the Rockies, and he's expected to make his next start Thursday versus the Dodgers.

Gray (back) is slated to throw a simulated game Saturday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Gray has been dealing with a back injury since March 14, but Saturday's sim game marks his final hurdle before he's able to return to game action. If his throwing session Saturday goes well, manager David Bell said that Gray could make his season debut at home against Cleveland on Friday.

Corbin has been cleared to return from the COVID-19 injured list and could start Saturday against the Dodgers, but manager Dave Martinez said he first wants to "get eyes on" the left-hander, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The 31-year-old wasn't one of the four players activated from the COVID-19 injured list Friday, but he's apparently been cleared and is set to join the team in Los Angeles. Corbin could make his season debut Saturday against the Dodgers if everything checks out, otherwise he'll likely be inserted into the rotation sometime next week.

Gallen (forearm) threw 67 pitches in an intrasquad game Wednesday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Gallen, who felt discomfort while throwing his curveball this spring, used that pitch in each of his innings Wednesday and reported no such discomfort. That's encouraging news for the Diamondbacks, whose starting pitchers rank 28th with a 6.95 ERA.

Anderson (0-2) allowed three earned runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out five across 5.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Cubs.

Anderson was burned by the long ball, as homers by Kris Bryant and Javier Baez accounted for all three of his earned runs. While he didn't surrender any walks, the 10 hits mean it's possible Anderson was in the strike zone too much. Anderson has produced mediocre results across his first two starts for the Pirates, surrendering six earned runs across 10.1 innings despite a 12:2 K:BB. He's lined up to make his next start Wednesday against the Padres.

Walker allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four across six innings Thursday against the Marlins. He did not factor into the decision.

Walker held the Marlins scoreless through five innings before faltering slightly in the sixth, allowing both his runs in that frame. However, the start was overwhelmingly positive, as Walker gave up only one extra-base hit and averaged 95.4 mph with his fastball. Walker threw 87 pitches, meaning he should be ready to work fairly deep into the game again in his next start -- currently projected for Tuesday at home against the Phillies.

Rasmussen (0-1) allowed two earned runs on one hit and one walk in one inning of relief to take the loss against the Cardinals on Thursday. He recorded three strikeouts.

Rasmussen has struggled in both of his relief appearances to start the year, allowing five earned runs in two innings. On the positive side, all three of his outs came via strikeout -- but not until after Nolan Arenado hit a two-run home run to give the Cardinals the lead. Rasmussen had a solid spring, but he could receive a demotion if his numbers don't improve.

Burnes threw six shutout innings, allowing only one hit while striking out nine in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals. He did not factor in the decision.

For the second straight start to open the season, Burnes delivered a one-hit masterpiece of a performance, yet the Brewers' offense couldn't provide enough run support for him to earn the win. After allowing a leadoff triple to Tommy Edman in the first inning, the 26-year-old retired 17 of 18 batters. Burnes has an astonishing 0.74 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 12.1 innings to start the season. He'll get a crack at the Cubs' lineup in his next start.

Wainwright allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out six across five innings in Thursday's win over the Brewers. He did not factor in the decision.

Wainwright's only earned run came when Keston Hiura scored from second base on a pickoff attempt in the third inning. Thursday's outing looked much better than Wainwright's first start, when he allowed six earned runs in 2.2 innings against the Reds. The veteran got six swinging strikeouts, showing that he was more comfortable with his command against the Brewers. The righty will look for his first win of the season in his next start against the Nationals.
