  • Giants' Anthony DeSclafani: Activated prior to start

DeSclafani (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's start against the Rockies.

DeSclafani spent the minimum 10 days on the injured list due to right shoulder fatigue. The right-hander has allowed at least two runs in six of his seven starts since the start of July, and he's posted a 4.42 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 38.2 innings during that time.

  • Mets' Trevor Williams: Sent back down

Williams was returned to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Williams was recalled to make a spot start during a doubleheader against the Nationals on Thursday, and he allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out two in 4.1 innings. He'll be one of the top candidates to rejoin the Mets' rotation if injuries occur down the stretch.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Completes bullpen session

Lopez (shoulder) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

It's at least the third bullpen session for the right-hander as he continues to build up his arm after going down with a shoulder strain in mid-July. Lopez should advance to facing live hitters soon before embarking on a rehab assignment.

  • Eric Lauer SP | LAD

Brewers' Eric Lauer: Set for activation

Lauer is with the Brewers on Friday and will be activated from the COVID-19 injured list, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

He is a strong candidate to start Saturday's game against the Pirates. Three of his last five starts have come against the Pirates, and he has logged a 1.78 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 20 strikeouts in 25.1 innings while facing mostly poor offenses over that five-start stretch.

  • Bailey Falter RP | ATL

Phillies' Bailey Falter: Slated to return Saturday

Falter (illness) will be reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Falter made a rehab appearance at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday and allowed a hit and no walks while striking out two in a scoreless inning. The southpaw has been on the COVID-19 IL since mid-July but will be available out of the bullpen Saturday against the Reds.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Shut down two more weeks

DeGrom (elbow) will remain shut down from throwing for at least two more weeks after being reevaluated Friday, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

The right-hander underwent an MRI that revealed reduced inflammation in his elbow, but the injury still requires more time to heal. If cleared to resume throwing after the two-week period, deGrom is looking at a potential return in late September at the earliest, given how long it would take to build his arm back up in a throwing program. If the Mets find themselves out of the playoff picture before then, they might have little incentive to bring deGrom back at all.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Reinstated for Friday's start

Flaherty (oblique) was activated from the 60-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Royals.

Flaherty has been sidelined since late May by an oblique strain, and he'll officially rejoin the Cardinals' starting rotation Friday in Kansas City. The 25-year-old built up to 75 pitches during his rehab assignment, so he shouldn't face significant limitations in his return to a major-league mound. Wade LeBlanc (elbow) was placed on the 10-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Return date uncertain

Marlins acting manager James Rowson suggested Monday that Rogers (personal) is without a clear timeline to rejoin the team, MLB.com reports. "We're kind of just letting Trevor take the time that he needs," Rowson said. "There's no sense of urgency or anything for that. So I think once he gets back, then he'll be able to get back into the fold and we'll go from there. Whatever he has to handle at home is what he needs to do first, and then from there we'll go from there."

Miami placed Rogers on the Family Medical Emergency List on Aug. 3, and he's remained away from the team ever since. Because Rogers is taking leave from the team due to a private matter, news has been scarce regarding his plans for eventually rejoining the Marlins. As exceptional as Rogers has been this season, fantasy managers in shallower leagues with limited reserve spots may find it difficult to justify holding onto him, given the uncertainty of his return date.

  • Mets' Trevor Williams: Lasts 4.1 innings in spot start

Williams didn't factor into the decision Thursday in the second game of a doubleheader against the Nationals after tossing 4.1 innings of one-run ball, giving up three hits and two walks while fanning two.

Williams was promoted from Triple-A Syracuse earlier in the day and while he failed to pitch deep into the game, he still got the job done in what was his debut with the Mets. Prior to being acquired from the Cubs, Williams had posted a 5.06 ERA and 1.53 WHIP while striking out 61 over 58.2 innings across 13 appearances (12 starts) this season. He's not likely to remain in New York's rotation.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Woeful against Brewers

Hendricks (13-5) was tagged with the loss Thursday against the Brewers after allowing nine runs on 11 hits and a walk across four-plus innings, striking out three.

This was one of Hendricks' worst starts of his entire career, as the right-hander struggled to settle on the mound and allowed hard contact all game long. The nine runs allowed are a season-worst mark for him, while the 11 hits tied his season worst as well. He still owns a 4.15 ERA on the year and was coming off a stretch of six quality starts across seven appearances before the wheels came off in this one, so consider this start merely an outlier and a bad day for the eight-year veteran.
