Mikolas didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Marlins, scattering four hits over five-plus scoreless innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

He also hit a batter. The right-hander traded goose eggs with Sandy Alcantara for five frames, but after allowing a single to Garrett Cooper to lead off the sixth, Mikolas got the hook. He tossed 59 of 86 pitches for strikes and generated eight groundball outs without allowing a flyball out. Mikolas has looked very good to begin the season, posting a 1.76 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB through 15.1 innings over three starts.

Stroman (0-2) allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits across 4.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Rays. He walked two and struck out seven.

The strikeouts are the only silver lining here, as Stroman struggled for the second straight start. In those outings, the righty has allowed 12 earned runs in just 8.1 innings, which has pushed his season ERA to 8.78. This is of course not what the Cubs expected when they signed Stroman to a three-year, $71 million deal over the winter, but he still has plenty of time to turn things around. The 30-year-old will look to get back on track in his next scheduled start Tuesday against Atlanta.

Clevinger (knee) hurled three innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out five.

Clevinger was stung for a solo home run in the minor-league start but otherwise pitched well, throwing 30 of 48 pitches for strikes and racking up five strikeouts. The right-hander is working his way back from a sore knee that popped up in camp in early April. It's unclear if Clevinger will make another minor-league appearance or be brought up to the big club for his next outing, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.

Bassitt (2-1) took the loss against San Francisco on Wednesday, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out six over six innings.

Things started out poorly for Bassitt in the contest as the Giants collected three first-inning runs. They tacked on additional runs in the second and fourth frames to tag the right-hander with his first loss of the campaign. Coming into Wednesday, Bassitt had allowed only one run over his first 12 innings with the Mets, so Wednesday's hiccup is no reason to lose faith in him. He'll carry a 3.00 ERA and 20:4 K:BB into his next start, which lines up to take place in St. Louis on Tuesday.

Rodon (2-0) earned the win over the Mets on Wednesday, completing five scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Rodon continued to impress in his third start for San Francisco, earning his second victory with five scoreless frames. The southpaw kept Mets hitters on their toes throughout the outing, inducing 19 swinging strikes. He has yet to allow more than three hits in an appearance and has struck out at least eight batters in each of his starts thus far. Perhaps the only disappointing development from a fantasy perspective is that the veteran hurler ran his pitch count up to 95 through five innings Wednesday, preventing him from going out for the sixth with the chance for a quality start. Rodon is building upon last season's breakout campaign with a 1.06 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 29:6 K:BB through 17 frames. His next start is expected to take place in Milwaukee on Monday.

Gore (1-0) allowed four hits and two walks while striking out seven across five innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Reds.

Gore ran into some trouble in the outing, particularly in the fourth inning when he avoided an earned run only after Joey Votto was thrown out at home. However, Gore also showed long stints of dominance, highlighted by a stretch from the second to third frames when he retired six straight hitters -- four of which came from strikeouts. The end result was his first career win. The former top prospect has now delivered a 1.74 ERA with 10:4 K:BB across his first 10.1 innings in the majors. Despite the strong showing, Gore could lose out on a rotation spot if Blake Snell (groin) is able to return from the injured list after a minimum stay.

Gutierrez (0-3) allowed three earned runs on two hits and four walks while striking out two across 4.2 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Padres.

Gutierrez worked three scoreless innings to begin the start, but he surrendered a two-run home run in the fourth inning. That accounted for the majority of the damage against him, though he also allowed a third run in the fifth frame on an RBI double by Trent Grisham. Gutierrez was particularly wild Wednesday, as he hit two batters in addition to the four free passes he surrendered. Through 13 innings this season, Gutierrez has a 5.54 ERA, and his 9:9 K:BB is among the indicators that his lack of success is largely of his own doing.

Eflin allowed four runs on nine hits and zero walks over 5.2 innings during Wednesday's 9-6 win against the Rockies. He had five strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision.

Eflin was in trouble early Wednesday, as Colorado scored a pair of runs on three hits during the opening frame. The Rockies added two more runs in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead, but the Phillies rallied to tie it 4-4 in the sixth to take the right-hander off the hook for the loss. Eflin has yet to allow a homer this season but has given up eight earned runs over 13.2 innings across his three starts. He lines up for a rematch with Colorado at home early next week.

Marquez gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings during Wednesday's 9-6 loss to the Phillies. He had five strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision.

The right-hander was hurt by the long ball Wednesday, as Nick Castellanos, Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm all homered off him for Philadelphia. Marquez fired seven frames of one-run ball against the Dodgers in his season debut but has surrendered four runs on 18 hits in his past two starts. He lines up for a rematch with the Phillies on the road early next week.

Morton (1-2) was charged with the loss Wednesday against the Dodgers after allowing four runs on six hits with four strikeouts and three walks over 5.1 innings.

The veteran right-hander surrendered a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman during the opening frame, and he then gave up single-run tallies in the fifth and sixth innings. It's the second straight loss for Morton after picking up the victory Opening Day, and he'll attempt to get back in the win column next week versus the Cubs.
