Wheeler (11-5) earned the win Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over six innings against Miami. He struck out eight.

Wheeler was dominant again on the mound Tuesday, recording his fourth straight quality start and seventh in his last eight games. Additionally, Wheeler is now in the top 15 among starting pitchers in both wins and strikeouts as he continues to make his case as a true fantasy ace. The righty tentatively lines up for a tougher matchup against the Mets this weekend.

Stroman allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six in five innings of a 6-5 loss Tuesday against Washington. He did not factor into the decision.

Stroman's kryptonite Tuesday was Keibert Ruiz, as the catcher took Stroman deep with a solo shot in the second and a three-run blast in the fourth. The home-run ball has been a bit of an issue for the veteran this season as he's allowing 1.4 homers per nine innings after allowing less than one per nine across his first seven seasons. After an excellent July in which he gave up only two runs in four starts, the 31-year-old has allowed seven runs, including four homers, in 11.2 innings in August. He'll likely make his next start against the Nationals again, early next week in Washington.

Carrasco (13-4) earned the win Tuesday after he pitched 6.2 innings, surrendering two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out nine versus the Reds.

Carrasco was able to limit the damage against him in this one to a two-run homer by Jake Fraley with one out in the top of the seventh frame. The nine strikeouts were his highest total since June 6, and he has now allowed three or fewer runs in seven straight outings. Over that stretch, Carrasco has produced a 1.69 ERA over 42.2 innings while registering four quality starts.

Peralta (4-2) earned the victory Tuesday over Tampa Bay, striking out four in five innings while allowing two runs on two hits.

Peralta allowed a single and a two-run homer in the third inning to account for the only baserunners against him. He retired every other batter he faced and completed the five frames while throwing 65 pitches. It was his second start since coming off the injured list after losing two-plus months to a lat injury. His pitch count will likely rise in his next start, slated for early next week against the Dodgers.

Miley (shoulder) will make his third rehab start at Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Miley tossed 49 pitches in 2.1 innings in his most recent rehab outing Aug. 3 and will be looking to increase his workload in Wednesday's outing. Currently in the midst of his third stint on the injured list, Miley has been limited to just four starts with the Cubs in 2022.

Houser (elbow) will make his next rehab start Thursday with Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The 29-year-old covered two scoreless frames during his first rehab start Saturday, and he'll continue ramping up his workload Thursday. Fellow starter Freddy Peralta recently returned from the injured list after only two outings in the minors, but it appears Houser will require a longer rehab stint before rejoining Milwaukee's rotation.

Flaherty (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Memphis, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Flaherty is expected to throw 30-to-35 pitches Wednesday in his first rehab outing and will ramp up his workload in subsequent appearances. The 26-year-old began the season on the IL with a shoulder strain and made only three starts in June before returning to the shelf. Assuming Flaherty avoids any further setbacks, he should rejoin the Cardinals' rotation in late August or early September.

Corbin's next scheduled start will be pushed back from Friday to Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Corbin has given up a whopping 30 earned runs in 21.2 innings over his last six starts, so the Nationals decided to bump him back a few days and give him added to time to make adjustments before his next start. Barring any further changes to the rotation, Corbin's next start will come next Tuesday at home against the Cubs.

Hendricks is still experiencing inflammation in his right shoulder and will rest for another week, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.

Manager David Ross said the MRI that Hendricks underwent Monday showed improvement, but the pitcher isn't ready to resume baseball activities just yet. He will be re-evaluated again at some point next week.

Sanchez (shoulder) will throw two innings in a simulated game Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear exactly where Sanchez stands in his recovery, but he is ready to get back on the bump. While Sanchez may have a chance to pitch for the Marlins before the campaign comes to a close, it was reported in June that he was considered unlikely to do so.
