Burrows (shoulder) has recently progressed to throwing from approximately 120 feet, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Burrows has been unavailable for nearly a month due to his shoulder injury, but it's encouraging he's been cleared to resume throwing. The right-hander has also been throwing off a mound, and the Pirates hope that he'll be able to return to make another start at Triple-A Indianapolis prior to the end of the regular season.

Manager Craig Counsell said Peralta (shoulder) could pitch during the Brewers' four-game series in Cincinnati this weekend, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Peralta last pitched Sept. 8 against San Francisco when he exited the game early due to fatigue in his throwing shoulder. He also missed time earlier in the season due to a strain in the same shoulder. The Brewers currently have no starter listed for Sunday's contest against the Reds, so it is possible Peralta is re-inserted into the rotation then.

Garrett was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The 25-year-old was sent down last week but will likely start Friday against the Nationals after Trevor Rogers (lat) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Since Rogers will be unavailable for the remainder of the season, it seems likely that Garrett will be able to remain in the rotation down the stretch. Garrett has made 14 major-league starts this year and has posted a 3.68 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 73.1 innings.

Rogers was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left lat strain Thursday, retroactive to Sept. 19, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Rogers has already been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a Grade 1 lat strain, so his move to the injured list was expected. However, the southpaw should be able to have a relatively normal offseason program since his strain isn't considered particularly severe. Braxton Garrett was called up Thursday and could take Rogers' place in the starting rotation.

Soroka was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday due to elbow soreness, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Soroka spent most of the season recovering from an Achilles injury and was sent to Gwinnett after being reinstated from the injured list at the beginning of September. He posted a 6.23 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 13 innings over three starts following his activation but will now miss the remainder of the season. However, the right-hander isn't believed to be dealing with any structural damage, so it's possible that he's ready for the start of spring training in 2023.

Marquez (8-12) took the loss on Wednesday against the Giants, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits over five innings. He struck out six and also walked a batter.

Marquez got himself into trouble early and often, giving up a leadoff double to LaMonte Wade in the first, who came around to score the game's first run. The right-hander would then allow the leadoff man to reach base in three of the next four innings. September hasn't been kind to Marquez as he now holds a 6.26 ERA through four starts this month.

Webb (14-9) picked up the win on Wednesday, shutting out the Rockies over 5.1 innings while allowing just one hit and striking out five. He did not issue a walk but did hit a batter.

Webb brought his best stuff in this one as he cruised through the first five innings without allowing a hit. He was then removed from the game with one out in the sixth after he allowed a single to Sean Bouchard. The right-hander threw only 66 pitches, including 13 first-pitch strikes, but he made an early exit as the Giants are managing his workload down the stretch since he's already thrown a career-high 187.1 innings. Webb is projected for a rematch with the Rockies next week in San Francisco.

Mikolas (11-13) took the loss against San Diego on Wednesday despite allowing just an unearned run on three hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six batters.

This was one of Mikolas' best starts of the season, as it was the fifth time he's finished without surrendering an earned run and the seventh time he's allowed three or fewer hits. However, the right-hander got no run support from the St. Louis offense and was saddled with his third straight defeat. Mikolas is one of six pitchers with 13 or more losses this season, but he's the only one among that group with a sub-4.00 ERA. In fact, he has a solid 3.35 ERA on the campaign, and his 1.04 WHIP ranks within the top 20 among qualified pitchers.

Snell (8-9) earned the win over St. Louis on Wednesday, pitching seven scoreless innings during which he allowed two hits and two walks while striking out 13 batters.

Snell carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, and he picked up the first two outs in that frame before Albert Pujols ended the bid at history with a single. Juan Yepez followed with another hit, but Snell finished the inning by striking out Paul DeJong. The lefty hurler fired a season-high 117 pitches and tied a career high with 13 punchouts. Though he's still under .500 on the season and holds a just-decent 3.62 ERA, Snell is peaking at the right time. Over his past five appearances, he's notched four quality starts while posting a 2.10 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB over 30 innings.

May (2-3) took the loss against Arizona on Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters over four innings.

May looked brilliant in pitching five hitless innings his last time out, but the momentum didn't carry over to Wednesday. The right-hander fell behind in the first frame and let the game get away from him when he gave up three runs in the fourth. It was the second time in his six outings this season that May has given up five or more runs, though he's also allowed one or zero runs three times in that span. All told, he's posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.17 WHP and 29:14 K:BB over 30 innings. May may need to show more consistency in his final few outings to earn a spot in the Dodgers' playoff rotation.
