Triple-A Memphis reinstated Thomas (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday.

According to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, Jones had been on the shelf at Memphis since early June due to shoulder inflammation. The 25-year-old lefty turned in a 5.73 ERA and 1.79 WHIP and struck out 43 batters over 59.2 innings prior to being deactivated.

Liberatore is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Twins, Joey Schneider of Fox 2 St. Louis reports.

Liberatore is one of two new additions to the St. Louis rotation this week, as Dakota Hudson will also be picking up a start Wednesday as the Cardinals replace the outgoing Jordan Montgomery and Jack Flaherty, who were moved ahead of the trade deadline. After getting out to a hot start over the first month of the season at Triple-A Memphis, Liberatore has struggled to maintain that form while bouncing between the big leagues and minors since the beginning of May. He's been particularly unimpressive over his nine outings (eight starts) with St. Louis, accruing a 6.75 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 3.8 K-BB% in 32 innings. Liberatore will still be worth holding in NL-only leagues since he'll have a fairly clear path to a starting role the rest of the way, but he'll need to show improved results before becoming a trusted lineup option in most mixed leagues.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said that Fried (forearm) is on track to return from the 60-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

Atlanta has officially confirmed only Bryce Elder (Saturday) and Charlie Morton (Sunday) as its starters for the three-game set in Chicago, but barring a late setback while working out over the next couple of days, Fried is lined up to take the hill for the series opener. Fried, who has been on the shelf since May 9 with a left forearm strain, most recently made the fourth start of his rehab assignment last Saturday with Triple-A Gwinnett. He covered 4.1 innings and tossed 79 pitches in that outing, so Fried should be capable of giving Atlanta something close to a full workload in his return to the big leagues.

Musgrove has been scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday against the Rockies due to "minor" right shoulder soreness, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

At least for the time being, the Padres don't view Musgrove's shoulder issue as anything too serious and believe he can avoid a trip to the injured list. Musgrove is tentatively in line to make his next turn through the rotation either next Tuesday or Wednesday in Seattle. Nick Martinez, who has been working out of the bullpen since late April, will make a spot start in Colorado in Musgrove's stead.

The Brewers reinstated Miley (elbow) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday in Washington.

Milwaukee reopened a spot in its rotation for Miley a few days earlier, when the team placed Julio Teheran (hip) on the 15-day IL. Miley ended up missing just over the minimum 15 days due to left elbow discomfort, but he appears to have responded well to a platelet-rich plasma injection and didn't require a rehab assignment prior to being activated. Miley should be in store for close to a normal workload as he makes his 14th start of the season Wednesday.

Mikolas (6-7) took the loss Tuesday as the Cardinals were downed 3-2 by the Twins, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out seven.

The right-hander was able to take his normal turn through the rotation while waiting to hear the results of his appeal on a five-game suspension, and Mikolas delivered his ninth quality start of the season on 109 pitches (72 strikes), although he came up short in a pitchers' duel with Pablo Lopez. Since the beginning of July, Mikolas has posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB through 35 innings, but assuming his suspension for throwing at Ian Happ in his previous outing is upheld, his next start will likely come sometime next week, as the Cardinals shuffle their rotation following the Jack Flaherty trade.

Strider (12-3) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in a 5-1 victory over the Angels. He struck out nine.

The right-hander came just short of his fifth straight start with double-digit strikeouts, but by fanning Shohei Ohtani in the first inning, Strider became the fastest pitcher in MLB history to 200 Ks in a season by doing it in just 123.1 innings. He broke the record held by... himself, as he needed 130 innings to whiff his first 200 batters as a rookie in 2022. Since battling through a couple rough outings in early June, Strider has posted a 2.82 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and stunning 81:8 K:BB through 51 innings over his last eight starts. He's next set to take the mound early next week in Pittsburgh.

Greene (hip) threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in a rehab start Tuesday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Green's first rehab start went about as well as the Reds could have hoped, and he remains on track to be activated from the 60-day injured list in about three weeks, with an estimated return date of Aug. 20. The right-hander is expected to move his rehab to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, per MLB.com. The Reds took some heat at the trade deadline for not adding starting pitching, but the organization feels Greene and Nick Lodolo (leg) -- who is expected back a week or two after Greene -- will be enough.

Cecconi is listed as Arizona's probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against San Francisco.

The Diamondbacks will formally call Cecconi up from Triple-A Reno later Wednesday for what will be his MLB debut. The 24-year-old right-hander has toiled in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this season, posting a 6.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 20 starts (103 innings). Cecconi is joining the rotation as a replacement for the injured Tommy Henry (elbow), who may spend more than the minimum 15 days on the shelf.

Lively dropped to 4-7 on the season after allowing 13 runs on 13 hits and two walks over four innings in a 20-9 loss to the Cubs on Tuesday. He struck out two.

Lively was roughed up early, allowing five runs before recording an out. The onslaught continued from there, as he gave up multiple runs in each of his four innings. The 31-year-old had been pitching well prior to this start, allowing three earned runs or less in each of his previous six outings. However, allowing 13 earned runs in this game caused Lively's season-long ERA to jump from 3.76 to 5.51. Lively will look to bounce back in his next start, which is tentatively lined up for this weekend against the Nationals.
