Justin Steele SP | CHC
Cubs' Justin Steele: Slated for live BP on Sunday
Steele (hamstring) will throw a live batting practice session Sunday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.
If Steele gets through the session with no issues, a rehab assignment could be the next step. The left-hander is working his way back from a left hamstring strain which he suffered Opening Day. It's not clear at this point how many rehab starts he might be asked to make before rejoining the Cubs' rotation.

Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Set for MLB debut Saturday
The Marlins plan to recall Munoz from Triple-A Jacksonville to start one of the games in Saturday's doubleheader versus the Cubs, Isaac Azout of SBNation.com reports.
Munoz will be making his major-league debut Saturday. The 24-year-old has had a rough start to the season with Jacksonville, allowing 14 runs (13 earned) with a 7:12 K:BB over 10.2 frames. Munoz isn't an advisable fantasy streamer.

Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Spins seven scoreless innings
Webb (2-1) picked up the win Thursday, allowing two hits and one walk with five strikeouts over seven scoreless innings against Arizona.
Webb was exceptional Thursday, making it through seven innings for a third straight start. The two hits Webb allowed came on the first two batters he faced Thursday, but he managed to retire the next 19 in a row. Webb has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his five appearances this season, boasting a 2.93 ERA across 30.2 innings pitched. He's tentatively scheduled for a matchup with the Mets on Tuesday.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Giants' Alex Cobb: Set to throw from flat ground
Cobb (hip) had a clean MRI on his shoulder and will throw from flat ground Friday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Cobb has dealt with both elbow and shoulder pain while working his way back from hip surgery. However, he's now set to resume throwing for the first time since April 1. Given his inability to ramp up consistently, Cobb will likely need several weeks before he's ready to return to a big-league mound.

Ryne Nelson SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ryne Nelson: Dealing with bruised elbow
Nelson exited Thursday's start against the Giants due to a right elbow contusion.
Nelson took a comebacker to his arm while recording the final out of the second inning and was forced to exit the game. It appears that he's avoided a fracture or other more serious injury, so it remains possible that he's available for his next turn through the rotation.

Diamondbacks' Ryne Nelson: Early exit
Nelson was forced to leave Thursday's start against the Giants after taking a comebacker to his right wrist in the second inning, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Nelson worked two scoreless innings while allowing two hits before exiting. The nature of the injury is currently unclear, though he'll likely undergo an MRI or X-ray to determine the severity of the damage.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Underwhelming rehab appearance
Buehler (elbow) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 2.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Buehler was expected to throw between 80 and 90 pitches, though his struggles with control limited the length of his outing. He particularly struggled with his offspeed and breaking pitches, as he threw 15 combined curveballs and sliders -- only two of which went for strikes. Though the outing wasn't positive, it could come as some consolation that this was Buehler's first time pitching with an automated strike zone, per Oklahoma City Director of Communications Alex Freedman. It's possible that this was Buehler's final rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation, but the Dodgers are expected to assess the situation before making a final decision.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Giants' Alex Cobb: Dealing with cranky shoulder
The Giants announced Thursday that Cobb (hip) is dealing with mild shoulder irritation, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Cobb is primarily recovering from left hip surgery that occurred shortly after the end of the 2023 season. During the ramp-up process, he's dealt with both elbow and shoulder issues that have slowed his progress. Cobb described his shoulder as "cranky" but noted that he doesn't expect his return timetable to be affected significantly.

Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Activated from IL
The Cubs reinstated Taillon (back) from the 15-day injured list Thursday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Taillon would have made his season debut Thursday against Miami, however the game was postponed due to rain. The 32-year-old right-hander will now start Friday after making two rehab appearances, during which he surrendered four runs (three earned) with eight strikeouts across 6.1 innings. Hayden Wesneski was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Thursday's start rained out
Taillon (back) and the Cubs won't play the Marlins on Thursday due to inclement weather, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Taillon had been scheduled to make his season debut Thursday, but rain will cause the 32-year-old righty to wait just a bit longer. Thursday's game will be made up with a doubleheader Saturday, and Taillon will presumably get a chance to start Friday.
