Mize pitched two scoreless innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates. He allowed a hit and a walk while striking out three.

Mize wasn't overly efficient with his pitches, as he needed 39 of them in his two frames, but he still looked pretty good. The strikeouts are a promising sign, as Mize was able to muster only a 7.1 K/9 in 2021. If the 24-year-old can consistently miss more bats in 2022, he should be able to take a step forward from a fantasy perspective.

Gonzales started Friday's Cactus League loss to the Padres and allowed an unearned run on two hits over three innings. He struck out one.

The left-hander could hardly have asked for a better start to spring action, with Gonzales looking like he hadn't missed a beat following another solid season in 2021. The veteran got good work in while facing 12 batters overall and will potentially bump up to four innings in his next Cactus League outing at some point in the coming week.

Syndergaard tossed a bullpen session Thursday and indicated that he's been able to throw all his pitches without worrying about his surgically repaired right elbow, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Syndergaard underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2020 and didn't make it back to the big leagues until late September of last season. He ended up pitching only two innings for the Mets, but that was enough for the Angels to take a gamble on his arm and sign him to a $21 million contract in the offseason. Indications are that the right-hander is feeling strong out of the gate this spring, as he stated that he has been able to throw with "conviction" in live batting practice. Syndergaard has plenty of upside given the body of work he has posted in the past, but fantasy managers should be aware that pitchers coming off Tommy John surgery have historically experienced mixed results.

Maeda (elbow) has moved to the 60-day IL as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, reports Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune

The move is a formality for Maeda as he makes room on the 40-man roster for new signee Joe Smith. Maeda continues to recover from Tommy John surgery and is eyeing a September return to action.

Eovaldi allowed two runs on three hits while striking out three and walking none over three innings in Friday's spring training game against the Rays.

Eovaldi was dominant over the first two innings before getting fatigued in the third. There's still time left in camp for Evoladi to make three more starts before taking the ball Opening Day in Yankee Stadium on Apr. 7. However, manager Alex Cora said he was not locked into giving his starters four spring starts. "We have to be careful. We'll see how he feels after this one and then we'll reassess what we have to do," Cora said. Whether the righty makes two or three more starts, Eovaldi should be up to working about five innings by the start of the regular season.

Chirinos (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Friday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Chirinos would be recovered from Tommy John surgery by now under ordinary circumstances, as he underwent the procedure back in August 2020. Unfortunately, he broke his elbow last September and had to undergo a second surgery. It's unclear when he'll pitch again, but it won't be before early June.

Lange was sent from the Padres to the Yankees on Friday in exchange for Luke Voit, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Lange's 6.95 ERA in 22 innings at the rookie-ball level last season is far from inspiring. The Padres liked him enough to take him 34th overall in the 2020 Draft however, and that poor ERA did at least come with an 28.4 percent strikeout rate. He'll have to cut his 14.7 percent walk rate significantly if he's to have a big-league career, but he still has several seasons to figure that out.

German's injury was diagnosed as right shoulder impingement syndrome Friday.

Reports of shoulder issues popped up at the start of the week, but German hit the 60-day injured list Thursday before a specific diagnosis has emerged. He now has that diagnosis, though a precise timeline for his return is not yet clear.

Rodriguez was named the Tigers' starter against the White Sox for Opening Day on April 8, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez is starting Detroit's first game of spring training Friday and will also be the first pitcher to take the mound in the regular season. It's hardly a surprise after the 28-year-old inked a five-year, $77 million deal with the Tigers in mid-November. Rodriguez finished last season with a 4.74 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 185:47 K:BB across 157.2 innings, though he posted a career-best 24.0 K-BB% and 0.71 HR/9.

Gonzales will draw the start in Friday's Cactus League opener against the Padres and pitch at least two innings, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

The veteran left-hander is slated to open the season as the No. 2 starter behind new arrival and projected staff ace Robbie Ray. Gonzales has been about as steady as they come over the last four seasons in Seattle, posting a 46-30 record, 3.88 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 99 starts over that span. Keeping the ball in the park more consistently is perhaps the one major area of Gonzales' game that could use improvement, considering he allowed a career-high 1.8 HR/9 last season across his 143.1 innings.
