Ober (groin) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Friday and is expected to throw another one Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

He reported no issues after the session. Ober has been out since early June with an aponeurotic plate injury, which he described as a tendon pulling on his pelvic bone. The Twins have said Ober is aiming for a return in September.

Maeda (elbow) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Friday and will throw another bullpen Monday, MLB.com reports.

It's possible Maeda could return in September to pitch out of the bullpen, but he'll need to show steady progress the next few bullpen sessions before going out on a rehab assignment. Maeda is in the penultimate season of a eight-year, $25 million contract and will likely want to finish the 2022 campaign on the field so that he can enter spring training healthy and ready to compete for a spot in the Minnesota rotation.

Garcia will be called up from Triple-A to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Guardians, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Garcia was sent down by the Tigers in early August but will serve as a spot starter during Monday's nightcap. Over two major-league starts this year, he's posted a 2.35 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 7.2 innings.

Sale (wrist) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

The transaction has no bearing on Sale's return timeline, as he's already been ruled out for the year after breaking his wrist in a bicycle accident. The move clears space on the 40-man roster for Boston to select Jeurys Familia's contract.

McCullers (forearm) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Saturday.

McCullers suffered a setback in his recovery from a flexor tendon strain during the offseason but will make his 2022 debut as the starter during Saturday's game against the Athletics. The right-hander made four starts during his recent rehab assignment and tossed 86 pitches over five innings during his most recent outing, so he's unlikely to face any significant restrictions Saturday.

Quantrill (9-5) allowed just one hit and struck out seven over seven shutout innings to earn the win Friday over the Blue Jays.

Quantrill put in his best start of the season Friday, with the lone blemish on his line being a Vladimir Guerrero double in the fourth inning. Across his last six starts, Quantrill has kept opponents off the board three times, posting a 2.80 ERA and 0.99 WHIP through 35.1 innings in that span. The 27-year-old right-hander owns a 3.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 86:35 K:BB through 130 innings across 22 starts overall. He's projected for a favorable home start versus the Tigers next week.

Wells (oblique) played catch on the field ahead of Saturday's game against the Rays, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

Wells has been unavailable since the end of July due to a Grade 1 oblique strain, but he's been cleared to throw off flat ground. It seems likely that he'll spend more than the minimum of 15 days on the injured list, and it's not yet clear when he'll be in the mix to return to game action.

Garcia (9-8) gave up four earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six over six-plus innings to earn the win in a 7-5 victory over the Athletics on Friday.

Garcia came into the game coming off three straight losses, but he did enough against the Athletics to regain a winning record. One of the four earned runs he surrendered came on a balk with the bases loaded. Garcia had spontaneously modified his elaborate windup and was called for the violation by the third base umpire. He was also responsible for two more runs, which came in to score after he was pulled at 97 pitches with two runners on and nobody out in the seventh. Garcia has an ERA of 5.16 over his past five starts. The 25-year-old right-hander will look to right the ship in his next expected outing at the White Sox next week.

Lynch gave up two hits and four walks while striking out three over five scoreless innings in an 8-3 loss to the Dodgers on Friday. He did not factor into the decision.

Lynch held his own against a formidable Dodgers lineup, lasting five innings without giving up a run. He found himself in serious trouble in the top of the fifth with the bases loaded, nobody out and Trea Turner at the plate. Lynch got Turner to pop out before striking out Freddie Freeman and then escaping the jam on a fly out by Will Smith. The 105 pitches were the most that Lynch had thrown this season. Lynch now has a 2.20 ERA over three starts in August to lower his season-long mark to 4.52. The 25-year-old left-hander will look to build on his recent success in his next expected start at Minnesota next week.

Kirby (4-3) earn the win over the Rangers on Friday. He gave up two earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five over 5.2 innings.

Kirby looked comfortable pitching on the road in Arlington, giving up only a couple of runs on a sacrifice groundout and single before coming out of the game having thrown 83 pitches. The rookie right-hander has shown impeccable control since entering the big leagues. Kirby boasts a 7.2 K/BB, having struck out 86 batters in 85 innings pitched while only issuing 12 walks. The Mariners are intent on monitoring Kirby's use down the stretch, so his upside is likely going to be limited by a pitch count going forward. He is tentatively expected to make his next start at the Angels next week.
