Rays' Tyler Wells: Acquired by Rays at deadline
The Rays acquired Wells from the Orioles on Monday in exchange for right-hander Michael Forret, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Wells boasts a 2.67 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 53:13 K:BB over 54 innings out of the Baltimore bullpen this season. He should handle a setup role for the Rays, who will have him under club control through the 2027 campaign.

Orioles' Tyler Wells: Pockets fourth save
Wells worked a perfect ninth inning Friday without striking out a batter to record his fourth save of the season in a 6-4 win over the Phillies.
It was the veteran right-hander's first save since July 17 as the Orioles continue to go with a committee approach at closer. While Wells is the only one of the team's relievers with multiple saves since the All-Star break, four other pitchers have nabbed one each, including Andrew Kittredge and Rico Garcia. With Ryan Helsley (elbow) not expected back until late August and Felix Bautista (shoulder) still uncertain to pitch at all in 2026, Wells will remain one of the top high-leverage options for Baltimore. Over 14 appearances and 16.1 innings in July, he produced a 1.10 ERA, 0.61 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB.

Orioles' Tyler Wells: Records third save
Wells earned the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Astros, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning.
Wells continues to come through for the Orioles in the ninth with Ryan Helsley (elbow) on the injured list. The right-hander stranded two Astros baserunners, locking down his third save of the year. In 36 games, the 31-year-old now has a 2.96 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 47:11 K:BB in 45.2 innings this season.

Wells earned the save in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Reds, allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He did not record a strikeout.
With Ryan Helsley (elbow) back on the injured list, Wells has gotten the call for two straight save chances and delivered on both. He owns a 3.02 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 43:10 K:BB across 41.2 innings this season and appears to be the early favorite to replace Helsley in the ninth inning as long as he continues to pitch well.

Wells earned the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Reds after striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning.
The Orioles are looking for a substitute at closer after Ryan Helsley was placed on the 15-day injured due to right elbow discomfort. Rico Garcia and Yennier Cano were both deployed earlier in Friday's contest, so Wells was brought out for the ninth inning for his first save chance of the season. Wells answered the call, needing just 10 pitches (seven strikes) to wrap up the win for Baltimore. It was his first save since the 2023 season, and given his low pitch count, Wells could be called upon for another save opportunity during the weekend series in Cincinnati.

Wells picked up a hold Wednesday against the Angels, allowing one hit and one walk in 1.1 scoreless relief innings. He struck out four.
Wells remains a strong source of holds in fantasy leagues that record them, collecting 10 on the season so far. The right-hander has been an effective multi-inning weapon out of Baltimore's bullpen in 2026, logging a 3.25 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 39:9 K:BB over 36 innings. His 27 appearances are already the most he's made in a season since his rookie campaign in 2021, though it's worth noting that he was working as a starter and/or injured for the past four seasons.

Orioles' Tyler Wells: Rejoins MLB bullpen
The Orioles recalled Wells from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Wells was optioned down to Triple-A Norfolk on May 2 in order to help make room on the roster for a couple additions. With Grant Wolfram (back) being placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, room was created for Wells to return to the big club.

Orioles' Tyler Wells: Optioned to Norfolk
The Orioles optioned Wells to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday.
Wells owns a 3.44 ERA and 1.20 WHIP through 18.1 innings this season, but the O's will send him to the minors as they make room on the active roster for Dietrich Enns' (foot) return from the injured list and Nick Raquet's promotion from Triple-A. Wells will likely be welcomed back to Baltimore's bullpen when the team needs a fresh arm.
