Ryu (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Thursday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Ryu wouldn't seem to be too far off from beginning a rehab assignment, although the target date for that hasn't been established yet. The veteran left-hander is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and could conceivably be ready to rejoin the Blue Jays' rotation shortly after the All-Star break.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Monday that Maeda (triceps) "likely will pitch for us in the big leagues by the end of the week," Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Maeda has posted a 2.03 ERA and 17:5 K:BB over 13.1 innings covering four starts on his rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. Baldelli wouldn't reveal specifics on Maeda's return or even the role he'll fill, but the righty could slide into the rotation spot currently held by Louie Varland, who has been roughed up each of his last three times out. Varland is tentatively lined up to start Friday in Detroit, which would be on six days' rest for Maeda.

The White Sox placed Lynn on the bereavement list Monday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Lynn was deactivated one day after posting a career-best 16-strikeout game against the Mariners. Per MLB rules, players have to spent at least three days and no more than seven days on the bereavement list, so Lynn could be ready to pitch the next time his turn in the rotation comes up this weekend versus the Red Sox. Even after his stellar outing Sunday, Lynn still holds a 6.51 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over 15 starts this season.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Sunday that Houck will be re-evaluated later this week before a determination is made regarding whether he'll need surgery to address a fracture on the right side of his face, ESPN.com reports.

Cora commented on the matter shortly after Houck was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday, two days after he exited his start against the Yankees when he struck just below his right eye by a line drive off the bat of Kyle Higashioka. Houck received stitches to seal the wound on his face, but it's not yet clear if the fracture will require surgical intervention or if the injury will be able to heal on its own. If surgery is deemed necessary, Houck's potential return timeline will likely be pushed back further.

Bassitt did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over 3.2 innings in an 11-7 loss against Texas. He struck out two.

Bassitt failed to get through the fourth inning for the second straight start, getting yanked at 73 pitches after giving up four hits, a walk and a run in the fourth frame. Sunday's start was yet another hiccup for Bassitt, who has struggled mightily in recent starts after a solid beginning to 2023, sporting a 6.84 ERA with six homers allowed over his last five starts (26.1 innings). He'll look to get back on track next week in an expected matchup with Oakland.

Gray did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks over 2.1 innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out two.

Gray struggled mightily Sunday, lasting just 2.1 innings after throwing seven or more frames in five of his previous six appearances. Over that six-start stretch, Gray posted a 1.99 ERA to pair with a 46:9 K:BB across 45.1 innings. Considering he hadn't allowed more than four runs in a game prior to Sunday's start, fantasy managers should expect Gray to bounce back. However, he's tentatively lined up for a tough start against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium next week.

Varland (3-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Tigers. He struck out four.

Most of the damage came in the fifth, as the Tigers put up five runs in the frame including back-to-back homers by Spencer Torkelson and Kerry Carpenter. Varland has struggled in the month of June, allowing 17 runs over 15 innings (three starts) while also serving up five home runs. Though he is expected to be bumped from the rotation when Kenta Maeda (triceps) is removed from the 15-day injured list, Varland will likely have at least one more go-around as a starter and is tentatively lined up for a rematch with the Tigers next week.

Severino fell to 0-2 after yielded four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out six across five innings in a 4-1 loss to the Red Sox in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday.

Severino allowed one run through three innings before the Red Sox brought home three runs in the next two frames. After a solid start to his 2023 campaign, the 29-year-old has coughed up 19 earned runs over his last 18.2 innings, driving his season ERA up to 6.30 through six starts. On the bright side, Sunday's outing was the first time he didn't allow a home run since his season debut May 21. Severino's next outing is projected to be at home against the Rangers.

Bello improved to 4-4 in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Yankees in the second game of a doubleheader, striking out eight while allowing one run on four hits and three walks over seven innings.

Bello yielded a run in the first inning before settling in for a dominant performance. He struck out a career-high eight batters while tying his season best with 16 whiffs. After coughing up eight runs over his first two starts, Bello has given up three or fewer runs in nine straight starts, registering a 2.60 ERA during that span. The second-year righty now owns a 3.49 ERA and a 57:20 K:BB through 59.1 frames. Bello's next outing is lined up to be a road matchup with the White Sox.

Miller (5-3) allowed one run on four hits over seven innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the White Sox.

Miller rolled through five shutout frames before the White Sox finally broke through with a run in the sixth inning. After coughing up 15 runs in a pair of losses, the right-handed rookie has allowed just two runs over 13 innings in his last two appearances. His season ERA is back down to 3.68 with a 45:8 K:BB across 51.1 frames. Miller's next start is projected to be in Baltimore.
