Pomeranz was a tough-luck loser Sunday versus the Dodgers, allowing just one run with five strikeouts and one walk across seven strong innings.

Pomeranz couldn't escape the fifth inning in his previous start, so it was promising to see him complete seven frames for the first time this season. He now has a sharp 2.42 ERA to go along with a 1.14 WHIP and a stellar 11.1 K/9 through five starts, making him a worthwhile fantasy play heading into his next matchup versus the Mets.

Miller lasted just 3.2 innings in Sunday's start against the Rockies, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks. He struck out three as his record dropped to 0-3.

Miller entered the game with a dismal 8.69 ERA through five starts, and while he cruised through three innings, he ran into trouble in the fourth and was ultimately yanked after allowing all three runs. He has simply not had anything going for him this season and should be used with caution even in the face of a soft matchup versus his former team, the Braves, Saturday in his next start.

Adleman allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings, but received no decision Sunday at Pittsburgh.

Adleman pitched four scoreless innings and had a lead when he left the game, but the bullpen promptly gave the lead away in a game the Reds would eventually win. The 28-year-old righty was making his MLB debut and made his mark with a quality start. He'll make his next start Friday against the Brewers.

Kontos (elbow), who completed a 30-pitch bullpen session Sunday, is scheduled for another Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

In the aftermath of the session, Kontos relayed that his elbow "felt good," and he's approaching a return to the Giants' bullpen. However, it's unclear if a rehab assignment is in his future before he's activated from the disabled list.

Melancon notched a one-out save, his seventh, by striking out Zach Cozart on three pitches in Saturday's 5-1 victory over the Reds.

It almost took the veteran closer longer to make it out from the bullpen than to dispose of the Reds' shortstop, as he converted his third consecutive save opportunity. Considering he only needed two pitches against the Reds on Friday to notch a save on that night, Melancon has clearly been optimally efficient in his role over the last two days.

Adleman had his contracted selected from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

Adleman will be called upon to start Sunday's game against the Pirates in place of the injured Raisel Iglesias (shoulder). The right-hander has posted respectable numbers at the Triple-A level this season, but the 28-year-old is likely a placeholder in the rotation until Iglesias is healthy, or another young arm is considered.

Iglesias was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday due to a right shoulder impingement.

Iglesias saw his velocity dip in his last scheduled start Monday, and after feeling a "pinch" in his right shoulder Friday, the Reds decided to scratch him from Sunday's scheduled start. They'll now put the young hurler on the disabled list, which will afford the team an extra roster spot while Iglesias works his way back to full strength. For now, that roster spot will got to Sunday's starter, Tim Adleman.

Rodney pitched a scoreless ninth inning while allowing a walk to earn his fourth save Saturday at the Dodgers.

Rodney was given a three-run lead to protect and closed out the victory for the Padres on 13 pitches. He had an excellent month in which he didn't allow an earned run over 8.1 innings.

Rusin allowed no runs on one hit and three walks while striking out six over five innings, but received no decision Saturday at Arizona.

Due to pitching out of the bullpen to start the season, Rusin left the contest after throwing just 76 pitches. He left the game with a two-run lead that the bullpen promptly blew in the following inning. After allowing three runs in his first outing of the season, he's now held opponents scoreless over his last 14.2 innings to lower his ERA to 1.69. He'll make his next start Thursday at San Francisco.

Gomez picked up his eighth save of the season Saturday with a scoreless inning against the Indians.

He allowed two hits in the ninth and avoided giving up two runs thanks to a great catch by right-fielder Peter Bourjos. Gomez's eight saves tie him for second in MLB.
