  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Opening second game of twin bill

Brazoban will serve as the Mets' opening pitcher for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Brewers, Manny Gomez of NJ.com reports.

Brazoban isn't expected to cover more than an inning or two before giving way to right-hander Blade Tidwell, who was initially scheduled to start but will instead work in bulk relief. The Mets have used Brazoban as an opener on two other occasions this season.

  • Kevin Herget RP | NYM

Braves' Kevin Herget: Demoted to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Herget to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Herget will give up his spot in the Atlanta bullpen to right-hander Daysbel Hernandez (forearm), who was reinstated from the injured list. After being recalled from Gwinnett on Saturday, Herget tossed a scoreless inning in his lone appearance for Atlanta in Tuesday's game against the Angels before being moved off the 26-man active roster.

  • Braves' Daysbel Hernandez: Back from injured list

Atlanta activated Hernandez (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Hernandez missed the last month of action with right forearm inflammation but is ready to roll after making one scoreless rehab appearance. The righty was handling a high-leverage role before getting hurt but could be eased back into the late innings.

  • Austin Cox RP | ATL

Braves' Austin Cox: Brought up from Triple-A

Atlanta recalled Cox from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Cox was optioned to Gwinnett less than a week ago, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the big club because Atlanta placed right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old will provide manager Brian Snitker with a fourth left-handed option in the bullpen behind Dylan Lee, Aaron Bummer and Dylan Dodd.

  • Drey Jameson RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Drey Jameson: Still bothered by elbow injury

Jameson underwent an MRI on his right elbow Tuesday after experiencing renewed tightness coming out of his rehab appearance in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last Friday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Jameson landed on Triple-A Reno's 7-day injured list May 20 due to inflammation in his right elbow, which he previously had surgically repaired in September 2023. After a month of rest and rehab, Jameson was cleared to resumed pitching in games in the ACL last week, but he made just two appearances before suffering a setback. The Diamondbacks haven't revealed the findings of Jameson's recent MRI, but he'll presumably be out of action through at least the All-Star break.

  • Juan Morillo P | ARI

Diamondbacks' Juan Morillo: Expected to be optioned

The Diamondbacks are expected to option Morillo to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Morillo has made 28 relief appearances for the Diamondbacks this season, posting a 4.01 ERA and 25:13 K:BB across 24.2 frames. He'll be replaced on the roster by Jake Woodford, who will offer the Arizona bullpen more length.

  • Yosver Zulueta SP | SEA

Reds' Yosver Zulueta: Up as 27th man

The Reds recalled Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

The Reds and Red Sox will resume a suspended game Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. ET before playing their regularly scheduled contest later in the evening. Zulueta will be available as the 27th man for the latter tilt. He's allowed one run over 2.1 innings covering two relief appearances with the big club this season.

  • Andrew Chafin RP | CIN

Nationals' Andrew Chafin: Could be close to return

Chafin (hamstring) threw a simulated game before Tuesday's game was postponed due to rain, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

The veteran southpaw has been sidelined since June 8 due to a strained hamstring. Chafin isn't expected to need a rehab assignment, and if he doesn't have any issues following Tuesday's session, he could be activated from the IL later this week.

  • Padres' Ron Marinaccio: Up as 27th man for doubleheader

The Padres recalled Marinaccio from Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.

Marinaccio will serve as the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader in Philadelphia. The right-hander was acquired by the Padres via trade over the offseason and has spent all of this season at El Paso, collecting a 4.70 ERA and 31:13 K:BB over 30.2 frames.

  • Dylan Lee RP | ATL

Braves' Dylan Lee: Hit hard in loss

Lee (1-3) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up three runs on two hits and a walk over one-third of an inning as Atlanta fell 4-0 to the Angels.

Entering a scoreless tie in the top of the eighth inning, Lee sandwiched a walk to Taylor Ward between doubles by Mike Trout and Jo Adell to allow the game's first run to score, and after the southpaw got the hook he had to watch Enyel De Los Santos let both inherited runners cross the plate. The earned runs were the first on Lee's ledger since May 25, and while he's worked his way into the saves mix thanks to his 2.37 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 40:10 K:BB through 38 innings on the season, Tuesday's usage indicates he's still viewed as more of a high-leverage option than a pure ninth-inning closer.
