  • Cubs' Luis Peralta: Claimed by Cubs, sent to Triple-A

The Cubs claimed Peralta off waivers from the Cardinals on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Iowa, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Peralta was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Friday but quickly found a home in a new organization willing to dedicate a 40-man roster spot to him. The southpaw never made an appearance in the Cardinals organization, but he posted an inflated 17.18 ERA and 3.24 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 7.1 innings in six appearances with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque this season. Peralta has the ability to punch out batters, but he'll need to greatly limit the damage against him at Iowa before receiving a look in Chicago's bullpen.

Colorado optioned Peralta to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

  • Rockies' Luis Peralta: Activated Wednesday

The Rockies reinstated Peralta (hip) from the injured list Wednesday.

Left hip inflammation sent Peralta onto the injured list Sept. 11, but a quick recovery will allow him to provide depth to Colorado's bullpen for the final several games of the 2025 campaign. Ryan Rolison was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

  • Rockies' Luis Peralta: Lands on injured list

The Rockies placed Peralta on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to Monday, with left hip inflammation.

Peralta has struggled mightily in the majors this season, posting a 10.80 ERA and 2.40 WHIP across 16.2 innings alongside a 14:16 K:BB. The 24-year-old will be eligible to return before the end of the season, but the Rockies likely won't be in a rush to bring him back based on his performance and the fact that they are firmly out of contention for a postseason spot. Ryan Rolison was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
