  • Reds' Raisel Iglesias: Records two-out save versus Phillies

Iglesias allowed one hit and struck out a pair in a scoreless two-out save Sunday against the Phillies.

The stopper didn't begin the ninth inning, but he was called upon after Wandy Peralta allowed two men to reach base with one out. With the Reds holding a four-run lead, Iglesias conceded a single to load the bases before recording the final two outs via the strikeout for his 21st save of the season. Iglesias has now gone eight appearances without allowing an earned run, lowering his ERA to 2.11 to go along with a 1.00 WHIP.

  • Kyle Crockett RP | CIN

Reds' Kyle Crockett: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Reds outrighted Crockett to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Crockett will stick in the Reds organization after going unclaimed when he was exposed to waivers earlier in the weekend. The 26-year-old should fill a key bullpen role in Louisville, where he has submitted a 4.00 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 23:5 K:BB in 27 innings on the season.

  • Dakota Hudson SP | LAA

Cardinals' Dakota Hudson: Delivers stellar MLB debut

Hudson made his major-league debut in a win over the Cubs on Saturday, firing a scoreless seventh inning in which he struck out two.

The promising prospect looked as sharp as he's been in Triple-A Memphis all season, mowing through the trio of Kyle Schwarber, Ian Happ and the pinch-hitting Victor Caratini on an efficient 13 pitches. Hudson has racked up 13 wins for the Redbirds thus far this season, and although he'll initially work in the bullpen with the big-league club, he could eventually earn a spot start before the end of the season, especially if Michael Wacha (oblique) and Adam Wainwright (elbow) remain sidelined for the foreseeable future.

  • Mets' Robert Gsellman: Gives up two runs in non-save situation

Gsellman gave up two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out one in one inning in a non-save situation Saturday against the Pirates.

He took the ball in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Pirates leading 3-0 and proceeded to dig an even bigger hole for his team. Gsellman had recorded just two outs (on July 25) since July 23, so it seems like the Mets just wanted to get him some work. The Mets are expected to go forward with Gsellman and Anthony Swarzak getting save chances, but both are pretty flimsy options relative to the rest of the closers in the league.

  • Marlins' Trevor Richards: Another strong start

Richards allowed three hits and two walks while striking out eight across six scoreless innings Saturday against the Marlins. He did not factor into the decision.

Richards dominated the Nationals on Saturday, recording 16 of his 18 outs via strikeout or groundout. He continues to limit the longball, allowing only 0.6 HR/9 through 75.1 innings. He has walked 34 batters this season -- inflating his WHIP to 1.41 -- though 13 of those free passes came in just two starts. In 10 starts since June 7, he has brought his ERA down from 5.02 to 4.06 and has struck out 47 batters across 51.2 innings.

  • Cardinals' Giovanny Gallegos: Dealt to Cardinals

Gallegos was traded from the Yankees to the Cardinals along with Chasen Shreve on Saturday in exchange for Luke Voit and international bonus pool money.

Gallegos has a 3.90 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 27.2 innings as a long reliever in Triple-A this year. He also has a 4.75 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 32 strikeouts in 30.1 career MLB innings. Look for him to serve as organizational bullpen depth with St. Louis.

  • Jesse Chavez RP | ATL

Cubs' Jesse Chavez: Continues to pitch well for Cubs

Chavez tossed three scoreless inning in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals, and he now has eight scoreless innings over his first five appearances with the Cubs.

Chavez has been a valuable addition to the Chicago bullpen, and his past experience as a starter allows him to give his new team multiple innings like he did Saturday. The 34-year-old righty now boasts a strong 3.08 ERA this season.

  • Sam Howard RP | DET

Rockies' Sam Howard: Demoted to minors

Howard was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Howard will head to the minors to make room on the 25-man roster for the acquisition of Seung Hwan Oh. Howard made just one appearance in the big leagues this season, tossing a scoreless frame while surrendering one hit.

  • Jose Castillo RP | NYM

Padres' Jose Castillo: Comes off DL

Castillo (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day disabled list ahead of Saturday's tilt with Arizona, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Castillo will return to action after landing on the disabled list July 7 with a right hamstring strain. In 13 games out of the bullpen this season, he's posted a 2.84 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 12.2 innings.

  • Reds' David Hernandez: Picks up fourth win Friday night

Hernandez (4-0) pitched 2.1 scoreless innings Friday night against the Phillies and got the win.

Hernandez has been a nice addition for the Reds. In 39.1 innings he's posted a 1.83 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 11 holds and a 37:13 K:BB ratio. With Amir Garrett hurt, Hernandez could pick up extra work in a setup capacity in the near future.
