Stephenson gave up two runs in the ninth inning Tuesday night against the Pirates, allowing two hits and a walk over 1.2 innings, striking out two.

With the outing Stephenson's ERA jumped to 3.96, as he's starting to struggle a little bit in the month of May.

Richards (2-5) allowed one run on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk across seven innings while earning a victory against the Giants on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old has certainly pitch poorly at times, but he's also been the victim of poor run support. In his first 10 starts, Richards allowed zero or one run four times and in all of those starts, he settled for a no-decision or took the loss every time. But Richards has now won two of his last three outings. Richards is 2-5 with a 3.82 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 61.1 innings this year. He is scheduled to start next at the Padres on Sunday.

Neris did not allow a baserunner while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Neris had little trouble recording his 10th save of the campaign, with his toughest test being a seven-pitch battle with Matt Carpenter that ultimately resulted in a strikeout. While Pat Neshek and Juan Nicasio have recently figured into the Phillies' save situation, Neris is the team's primary closer with no other reliever on the team recording more than three saves. Neris has shown no signs of relinquishing the role, racking up a 1.90 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with 34 strikeouts across 23.2 innings this season.

Pivetta (3-1) allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six across five innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Pivetta got off to a rocky start, surrendering homers to two of the first four batters of the game. However, he settled in from there and held the Cardinals scoreless for the remainder of his outing. Pivetta's continued struggles with walks and home runs jeopardize his chances of sustained success, but he may have finished well enough Tuesday to earn himself another start. Manager Gabe Kapler has yet to confirm his rotation plans, but Pivetta tentatively lines up for a second start Sunday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Sims (1-0) allowed four earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out nine across 7.1 innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Pirates.

Sims dominated the Pirates early, surrendering only three hits through six scoreless innings of work. He tired down the stretch, allowing three of the first four batters he faced to reach base in the eighth frame, capped off by a grand slam by Kevin Newman. The homer overshadowed what was otherwise a strong outing for Sims, as he generated 19 swinging strikes on 100 total pitches. He's unlikely to earn another immediate start in the majors, but Sims made the most of his chance Tuesday.

Yates recorded the save against the Yankees on Tuesday, working around a hit to toss a scoreless ninth inning and preserve a 5-4 victory for the Padres. He didn't record a strikeout or a walk.

That's now 21 saves in as many chances for the right-hander, who successfully protected the one-run lead despite a rare outing where he didn't strike out a batter. Yates continues to dominate in 2019, as he's now boasting a 1.08 ERA and 0.96 WHIP through 25 innings.

Patino threw 5.1 scoreless innings for High-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, giving up four hits, striking out seven and walking two.

It was the first scoreless start of the season for Patino, who has his California League ERA down to 3.05 through 41.1 innings. The 19-year-old right-hander is one of the highest-rated pitching prospects in San Diego's stacked farm system, and so far it looks like he's translating the skills he displayed in his standout campaign for Low-A Fort Wayne last season, when he had a 2.16 ERA and 98 strikeouts over 83.1 innings.

Peralta was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Peralta has struggled to a 4.87 ERA through 20.1 innings this season, so he'll head to the minor leagues in an attempt to find his groove. Lucas Sims was recalled in a corresponding move and will start Tuesday evening against Pittsburgh.

Pomeranz will start Friday's game against the Orioles, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Pomeranz was expected to make his next start Thursday, but with an off day looming Monday, the Giants can afford to push him back a day. Tyler Beede and Dereck Rodriguez would appear to be the top candidates to start Thursday's matchup against Miami.

Gott (forearm) will likely return from the injured list following the 10-day minimum, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Gott landed on the shelf Saturday due to a right forearm strain, but the issue doesn't appear to be as severe as initially thought. He's set to toss a side session within the next few days, and assuming all goes according to plan, the Giants will activate him from the injured list June 4 when he's first eligible.
