Neris got credit for his first hold of the season in Saturday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta. He was charged with three runs on two hits and a walk over one-third of an inning.

With Brandon Workman now on the roster, Neris entered the game in the eighth inning to protect a 4-2 lead, but he was no more effective in a setup role than he'd been as closer, coughing up a run on two hits and a walk before he managed to record his only out. Workman then came into the game and allowed both inherited runners to score when Matt Adams laced his first pitch for a double. Neris now has a ghastly 11.12 ERA, 2.65 WHIP and 7:5 K:BB through 5.2 innings and has blown three of his five save chances to begin the season, but Workman's disastrous first outing as a Phillie doesn't guarantee that he'll immediately displace the team's incumbent in the closer role. It wouldn't be surprising if the duo split save opportunities until one of them proves to manager Joe Girardi that they can be reliable in the ninth.

Grace (0-1) took the loss in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Giants. He failed to retire a batter, giving up three runs on one hit and two walks.

Grace made his second appearance since his contract was selected. He entered a tied game in the seventh inning but couldn't locate, as only six of his 14 pitches were strikes. The left-hander walked Brandon Crawford before giving up a double and a second walk and left with the bases loaded. Grace then watched Junior Guerra walk in two runs, and a third run score on a groundout. He's the lone left-hander in the bullpen after Andrew Chafin (finger) landed on the injured list.

Crowe (0-1) took the loss in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over 3.2 innings as the Nationals were downed 5-3 by the Marlins. He struck out two.

Making his big-league debut, the right-hander had trouble locating his pitches and threw only 34 of 64 pitches for strikes before getting the hook. With Sixto Sanchez having more success in his MLB debut for Miami, Crowe was saddled with the loss. It's not clear whether he'll remain with the Nats as a long reliever or swing man or be sent back to the team's alternate training site, but he didn't make a strong case for sticking around.

Bard (1-2) failed to record an out and allowed a walkoff homer to Cody Bellinger to take the loss Saturday versus the Dodgers.

Bard's second pitch to Bellinger was deposited into the right-field seats to give the Dodgers the win. The 35-year-old Bard has now allowed a run in three of his last four outings. He has a 4.50 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 12 innings this season. He's recorded a save and a hold in 12 appearances and figures to continue to work in high-leverage situations.

Jansen (1-0) struck out the only batter he faced and earned the win against the Rockies on Saturday.

Jansen whiffed Elias Diaz to close the top of the ninth inning, and Cody Bellinger's walkoff solo shot made Jansen a winner. The 32-year-old closer has racked up seven saves with a 0.79 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 14 strikeouts across 11.2 innings this season.

Gallegos pitched 1.1 perfect innings with one strikeout to earn the save in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Reds.

Gallegos relieved Andrew Miller in the eighth inning with two on and two out and struck out Nick Castellanos to end the threat. Gallegos then retired the side in the ninth to pick up his first save of the season. He's struck out seven and allowed just one baserunner in 4.2 innings across five appearances this year. The 29-year-old will likely continue to compete with Miller for save opportunities.

Hudson struck out two in a perfect seventh inning to earn the save in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Marlins.

The 33-year-old needed only nine pitches -- all strikes -- to retire the side in order and close out the matinee. Hudson has converted six of eight save chances with a 6.30 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB through 10 innings this season.

Castano (0-2) took the loss in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals after allowing two runs on one hit with one strikeout and two walks while recording only one out.

Castano retired one of the four batters he faced while delivering only 10 of his 23 pitches for strikes, leading to the quick hook. The 25-year-old covered 10.1 innings with a 4.35 ERA across his first two outings before Saturday, and he could make another start next week if the Marlins don't return any starters from the injured list.

Smith was optioned to the Marlins' alternate training site after Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader.

The 30-year-old didn't make an appearance during the matinee, and he was optioned to make room for the promotion of Game 2 starter Sixto Sanchez. Smith has appeared in two games for Miami this year and has allowed two runs on two hits with a 4:1 K:BB over 1.2 innings.

Brogdon was optioned to the Phillies' alternate training site Saturday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

Brogdon's contract was recently selected by the Phillies, but he'll return to the alternate training site after the team acquired several relievers via trade. The right-hander made three appearances during his time in the majors, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three.
