Santana was optioned to the alternate training site Saturday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

The 24-year-old has been in the majors all season, but he'll head to the alternate site with Pedro Baez (groin) returning from the injured list. Santana has a 5.29 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB over 17 innings this season.

Webb, who fired a clean eighth inning during which he recorded a strikeout in a loss to the Reds on Friday, has now posted seven straight scoreless relief efforts.

The left-hander has lowered his season ERA from 5.40 to 2.70 in the process, transitioning into one of manager Mike Shildt's more reliable middle-relief options. Webb has improved his ERA every year of his career, and given his recent stretch, he appears on the way to significantly improving on 2019's 3.76 figure as well.

Long on promise but often short on results the last three seasons primarily due to injuries, Reyes appears to be rediscovering the form that saw him wow with a 1.57 ERA and 10.2 K/9 across 46 innings back in his rookie 2016 campaign. The right-hander has proven an increasingly trustworthy bullpen asset for Shildt this season outside of a pair of hiccups, posting a 2.70 ERA and 11.5 K/9 over 10 appearances (one start). However, what could ultimately make Reyes a shaky ninth-inning choice is his trademark lack of control, which is evidenced this season by his 6.1 BB/9. Otherwise, the 26-year-old does have the ability to be dominant when he's on, considering he's averaging 97.8 mph on his fastball and sports a career-high 12.2 percent swinging-strike rate at the moment.

Granted, the right-hander hasn't exactly built a compelling case for high-leverage work recently, as Helsley has allowed at least one earned run in four straight appearances and now carries a bloated 7.71 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over six trips to the mound. However, the 26-year-old certainly demonstrated upside in his rookie 2019 campaign, when he finished with a 2-0 record and 2.95 ERA in 36.2 innings. Moreover, Helsley posted double-digit K/9s at four different minor-league seasons and boasts a fastball that's currently averaging a tick under 97 mph, so the foundational tools for a ninth-inning role would appear to be there.

Cabrera recently moved past a cracked fingernail and just saw a streak of five consecutive scoreless appearances snapped Thursday by the Tigers. The left-hander is still sporting an impressive 3.29 ERA and solid 1.17 WHIP across 13.2 innings (12 appearances), but the one-time minor-league starter has just one save in a professional career that dates back to 2015.

Suter will start Saturday's game against the Cubs, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Suter will step in to make the start Saturday in place of Brett Anderson, who was scratched due to right hip tightness. Manager Craig Counsell said that he expects the team to utilize a bullpen game, so it's unlikely that Suter will last very long, especially since he hasn't pitched more than three innings in any of his appearances this year.

Rainey is dealing with forearm tightness Saturday and won't pitch for several days, Byron Kerr of MASNSports.com reports.

Rainey underwent an MRI on his forearm that came back negative, but manager Dave Martinez said Saturday that he'll get a few days off to recover. The right-hander carries a 2.66 ERA and 0.74 WHIP over 20.1 innings this season.

Garcia struck out two and recorded his first save of the season during the second game of Friday's doubleheader, giving up a run on two hits in the seventh inning.

Brandon Kintzler worked a clean sixth inning with the Marlins up 4-2, and after they tacked on another run in the bottom of the frame, manager Don Mattingly elected to hand the save chance to Garcia. The 30-year-old responded by giving up his first run of the year, but he still got the job done to pick up his first save in the majors since 2015. It's not clear if Mattingly intends to give Garcia a shot at winning the closer role on a more permanent basis, but his 0.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB through 9.2 innings this year suggest he's capable of handling the assignment.

Castano didn't factor into the decision during a 5-3 win over the Phillies in the second game of Friday's doubleheader, allowing only one unearned run on five hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out one.

The rookie left-hander continues to minimize the damage against him despite a lot of traffic on the basepaths. Castano has a 3.32 ERA through his first 19 big-league innings, but a 1.58 WHIP and 9:9 K:BB highlight the tightrope he's been walking. The Marlins have three more doubleheaders coming up in the next nine days, so Castano should get another start during that stretch.

Young (2-3) entered as a bulk-inning reliever and picked up the win Friday against the Mariners. He allowed two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one over 5.1 innings in a 4-3 victory.

Young had been in the rotation until Friday's starter, Caleb Smith, was ready to return from the COVID-19 list. Smith was lifted after three innings (40 pitches), suggesting he will be lengthened slowly, which means Young may be paired with Smith for at least another start. He could also get a spot start in a doubleheader.
